Hostel was good, bed was comfy, everything was clean. Kitchen and lounge was good. Alot of nosie, doors closing, people walking etc.. walls were so thin. Laundry is annoying because it closes at 7.30 ( very early if you have been out and about allday)

Amazing place, the hostel was unexpectedly great, awesome people and great service. I was impressed from the late check in, we got the keys posted even though we haven't paid the full amount online. Thanks and hope to see you guys again.

Realy enjoyed my stay at the YHA in Taupo, was there for 4 nights in a 4 bed dorm. I do admit the 4 bed dorm was very cosy and there was only just enough room to feel comfortable but apart from the room size everything else was just fine, it was clean, good showers, well equiped kitchen etc. My favourite part of the hostel was the outside area/terrace, its on the first floor and you get great views of lake taupo and the surrounding mountains, and they have a gas bbq to use!

5 minutes from town/the lake with staff who were willing to help with anything including booking our coach for Tongariro! The rooms were a decent size and all kitchen and bathroom facilities were clean and tidy. It was quiet both early and late in the day.

I find YHA's can be all the same but this one has a bit of character, great kitchen facilities, really friendly and helpful staff, outside seating area, tv room and everything is clean and tidy. It's a bit out of town but Taupo is a small place so it's just a 10 min walk (max) to town.

Decent enough hostel to hang out in, sociable, clean too, a 10 minute walk from the iSite, so away from most of the town, but 10 minutes won´t kill you.

It seems to me that YHA hostels in New Zealand don't do anything in the way of organising events for the guests. This would have greatly increased the score that I gave.

There's no lockers in the room and you can pretty much hear everything from everywhere -- outside your room, in the kitchen, and from the streets. The beds are comfortable, the linen provided is great, and it has a nice lake-house vibe to it. It doesn't have a lot of amenities but it has wifi, which is good enough for me. They were good about cleaning the place. YHAs are always reliable. I would recommend it over Base.

Very clean hostel. It's set outdoors and can be a little chilly going to the toilets at night. Great location with only a short walk to the Lake and o the city centre.
