This was wonderfully placed and so quaint and a really nice experience! plus all of the sightseeing tours and things for the sounds around the Te Anau area are really good at knowing the place and picking you up there!

This hostel is, by far, one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in, world-wide! The gentleman at the desk was so friendly and very helpful. I was impressed with how clean and organized everything was, especially the kitchen!

The beds were quite squeaky which made it hard to sleep. I also wish there were lockers available other than the 1 time use ones. It would be very helpful to have lockers in the rooms.

Very noisy! We were woken up by early risers and we were in a private double, but could here everything and everyone around us. Very frustrating for tired travelers who could use a day to sleep in. Also, there was no a/c in our room - only a window.

Good hostel. Big problem I have is with New Zealand (and also Australian) Internet. 10 dollars a day is way to much, should be free just like everywhere else in the world. that's why Value for Money is only average. If you don't use Internet change this to good.

A very nice place to stay. If you don't like the BIG YHA / Nomads kind of hostels, no worries: this one is a lot different in character. Quite small and relaxed.

A lovely low key friendly hostel, comfortable, slightly rustic and relaxed with lots of places to hang out including a garden and sheltered outdoor area, and a fireplace in the corner of the common room. Quiet and relatively adult compared to other hostels I visited in New Zealand. Highly recommended.

Really very good for such a large hostel (which are sometimes a bit like factories), I stayed for a week. Huge kitchen for all the self caterers, lots of information from booklets and notices and the staff about Fiordland, very central to Te Anau, easy to meet other travellers, and a few different areas just to hang out in, including a lovely big garden. If I ever went back to Te Anau I would stay here again.

A very clean and nice hostel. Kitchen is quite big. A lot of older people and groups stay here on their way from or to tramping trails

I thought this was an attractive hostel, small enough to feel homely and yet with all the facilities that I needed. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the situation was very near the centre of town and the lakeside was a few minutes walk away. Altogether an excellent combination.

I stayed for several days in this hostel, and it was quiet, nice, clean and confortable. The kitchen, garden, lounge and tv room are perfect to meet other people and a lot of informations about the tracks around are dispatched on the walls which is very convenient.

I had a really nice stay at YHA, Te Anau. The place was clean and the common bathrooms were well kept. The people at the front desk were friendly and courteous. There is a nice lobby and a very big kitchen. People seemed to be using the services in the kitchen which looked to have everything you would need to cook a meal. The private room that I stayed in is as comfortable as a hotel room that you would get. Thanks goes to the staff at YHA, Te Anau for making my stay a pleasant one.

The first night we arrived we had to call the staff after hours as our dorm beds were riddled with hairs (we don't mind a few but there were loads) among other bits a pieces of dirt. To be fair the guy came, agreed with us and upgraded us to a double for the night. The other 2 nights we were there the beds were clean. Other than that, the kitchen was good with lots of hobs and utensils, the TV room great, the patio very nice, the staff great and gave useful advice and the location perfect.
