YHA Wanaka Purple Cow Reviews

Everything was just fine except the storage room. Even though it is locked, but anybody can take the purple donkey key from the reception and enter the room.

No fun, no activities in the hostel, unsocial staff... charging for everything such as internet, lockers etc.

Excellent location right opposite lake wanaka and close to city center. Dated decor but very clean and tidy.

Beautiful location. Nice room with a view. Kitchen a bit confusing at first partly because it is big. Nice gas fired stove but frying pans have loose handles. (a little scarey). Otherwise, lots of utensils for what is needed . A great budget option if one is flexible and not worried about the odd slimy wash (first time at a youth hostel) Plenty of room in the refrigerator for your stuff

It is a really nice hostel with a amazing view. I only did not like that there was a cat walking around inside the commonroom.

The location was amazing and everybody NEEDS to go to Wanaka. There are kitchens in the suites, but they're horrible. Internet is very expensive and there is no check in until 2:30. The staff are extremely nice! The atmosphere is good aswell.

The dorm rooms were basically small cottages equipped with kitchenettes. Overall everything was clean and it was a great place to stay while exploring Wanaka. The only problem was the lack of lockers in the rooms

This is a top notch hostel for so many reasons....view and atmosphere can't be beat.

The hostel looks really cute from the outside, unfortunately not so good from the inside. It has a chalet feel, and a very nice chill vibe which fits perfectly with Wanaka. Staff were very helpful and always up for a chat. However, having paid for the best possible room, I was disappointed with the old crackling rustic feel. For such a small town, a place right by the lake would be more suited. Lastly, don't get me started on the nightlife, Wanaka kills it by day, but omg kill me by night! :-P

I always look for an oven as it is a nice way to cook and I dislike microwaves, I particularly loved the view from lounge and terrace

Good location. Nice rooms - 6 bed dorm had mini kitchen and bathroom. Laundry, bike hire, you name it. Very clean.

It was a nice hostel, but we expected more from the references.
