Very clean hostel with excellent communal facilities. Location was perfect and staff helpful too. Only negative was the vv hot rooms but would definitely stay again - one of the best hostels I've stayed in.

We think it is the BEST hostel we stay in - many times we have. Everything is superb - very friendly helpful staff and just like a 'home away from home' ...

Everything was pretty superb. I think the price was a little high for haveing such a small room. Felt a little suffocated in there.

Nice place, huge dining area and lounge. Staff very helpful. Had my breakfast not been stolen the last day, I probably would have left YHA Wellington City in a better mood...

Really really appreciated this hostel. Thanks a lot. I had an ensuite room because of a health need. Wish there was a slight discount for oldies. But really I am not complaining at all. YHA wellington City stands out as a hostel in ALL respects. Marie B

When my sister and her husband arrived the young man at the reception desk could not find my booking, even though they showed him the online booking confirmation I had received. A deposit had already been paid. They were not favourably impressed. Eventually the receptionist offered them a bedroom with a shared bathroom. Because it was too late to find accommodation elsewhere in Wellington they took it. It was offered to them free of charge which made it bearable.

We stayed at the topfloor of the hostel. To get fresh air you open the window, but where we were, there is a big exhaust pipe from the next door restaurant, smelling of fries !!!! The noise went on till 0100 am. This was not a pleasant experience. Air condition in this case would have been ideal.

The facilities are great, best i have ever seen at a hostel, kitchens are fantastic, great tv room, bathrooms etc also the staff are very friendly and helpful, the place is cheap and in a great location!.. I have to say thought the 1 negative is its a very boring hostel, no partying happening at all, even on a weekend lots of people sitting around reading books and on their laptops.. theres also a lot of older people and kids here, which i found odd.. more of a NICE stay than a FUN stay

Good hostel, great location close to Te Papa. Only gripe would be that there were no lockers in the dorms to keep valuables.
