About YHA Whangarei
We have 4 stars and are the closest hostel to the centre of town. The property has gardens with amazing views over Whangarei and our staff are friendly and fun. Our atmposhere is relaxed, and though there is loads to see and do our hostel is a great spot to chill out for a few days and recharge your travelling batteries. Enjoy the warmth of a log fire in winter or relax in the BBQ area in summer.
Join in the hostel Matakohe-Limestone Island replanting project, helping to regenerate the unique local habitat.
Discover the amazing Abbey Caves just a short drive from our property - see thousands of glow worms, stalactites & stalagmites, underground waterfalls, and spectacular rock formations in three unique undeveloped caves.
Free pickup and drop off for snorkellers and scuba divers at the Poor Knights Islands Tutukaka - named by Jacques Cousteau as one of the world's top 10 dive locations. Spectacular water clarity and warm sub-tropical currents provide a rich, varied and abundant sea life. You don't have to be a diver to discover this amazing and unique envrionment, snorkelling there is fantastic and lots of fun. Trips depart Tutukaka daily.
