Sam, one of the receptionists (owners?), was just so helpful. She made bookings for us and helped us decide what to do each day we were in Whangarei. The hostel is up a huge hill, which was pretty inconvenient, but Sam totally made up for that.

Kitchens and bathrooms excellent and very clean. Staff lovely and very helpful (ask about the glowworm walk if that's your thing). Slightly out of the town up a very steep hill.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the dorms, kitchen, common areas, and bathrooms were very clean. The hike up the hill is worth it for this hostel!

A nice hostel on the hill overlooking Whangarei with car parking and a short stroll into town. Good large kitchen, clean bathrooms, spacious dorms - mattresses a bit soft though. Communal area comfy with separate TV lounge is a good idea. Staff friendly and helpful.
