I think I spent a bloody lot of money for my stay in this hostel. When i open my room the curtain was dirty ..In bed the brown blanket..I think it never was wash, because was so smelly... Im so disappointed about.I will never recomend this hoste.Im sorry but its true. People who is working in reception are just perfect, housekeepers too. Location really nice. Last 4 days my room wasnt clean by housekeepers....so sad again. So sorry for this, but its true.

Amazing location, right in the middle of Chch, close to any tourist attractions and buses arriving/leaving the city. Rooms are clean and warm, and plenty of bathrooms to choose at any point in the day. Kitchen is supertiny though (1st floor), so quite unsuitable for long cooking, but if you just want to get in and get out, it's perfect.

First staff member I encountered was incredibly rude, & completely condescending & unhelpful when I asked for directions to an internet cafe or petrol station/small convenience store. Second staff I dealt with was wonderful & welcoming. Not impressed with first staff member as a first welcome to NZ.

Only stayed one night. Very clean. Great location for me as I was traveling on Naked Bus the next AM and YMCA is right around the corner, but there were no restaurants open nearby at 7pm. Was supposed to be in a 6 person dorm and ended up in a 10 person dorm with no apologies or reduction in price. Staff was not very helpful when asking about local travel locations e.g. they told me to read my ticket when I asked for help finding the naked bus stop. 10 person dorm had only 2 power outlets.

For a very big house the ymca is a good accommodation but (as can be expected) not very personal. One of very few in the city centre right now, very practical (stop atomic bus, botanical gardens and museum 50 metres),. I would choose it again for staying one or two nights. The kitchen ist a bit small. Many bathrooms, very clean.

I have stayed with you every time I come to Christchurch - why? because you are brilliant. The only down side is that you need to improve ease of in-room internet access. But always a pleasure to stay with you guys

How can you sell this kind of accomodation produc? There was no access to the hostel!! The road was not repaired after the earthquake, which occured 13 months ago, before I made this resevation! I mean, I couldn't even get to the hostel!

The girl staff (reception) is bad. She was rude and nervous. I asked tall and she said me I would need buy one for NZ 5(lie). Has differents informations on website, for exemple, free GYM...it isnt correct..need to pay. She said didnt have bed to my friend in another dorm. But, when changed the staff(Reception) the man gave differents informations... gave me tall and found bed for my friend. So, she hasnt enough skill and experience.

There was no hand soap in any of the toilets. There was inadequate storage in the dorm i stayed in, resulting in clutter and mess, and bags left out etc. Not great.

The staff at this hostel were consistently very helpful to me. I had numerous questions at various times, and they always made sure that my needs were looked after, including making phone calls on my behalf. Being virtually adjacent to the Botanical Gardens and excellent Canterbury Museum, this is likely the best location in Christchurch for most travellers. Hostel accommodation is in short supply due to the destruction of two large hostels by the earthquake, so book as far ahead as possible.

A good overall hostel, the only downside is the cost for the food. I felt $15 for dinner was a bit much, but food was alright.

Lots of space in the room, good beds, clean, better than all the other hostels I've been to in New Zealand! Will tell everyone to go here.

Well first of we witnessed three acounts of people to checkin, and recieving abuse from one member of staff, the same lady spoke to this people very rudely and aburtely. Leaving one so annoyed that she cut her stay short, and planned to head of again the next morning, as she was not happy. The kitchen for the customer to use to make there own food was to small. only four people at a time could use it, and it was never cleaned properly, as i had to clen every time i went to use it.
