I'm usually not picky with hostels, but this stay was very depressing. I agree with some of the previous comments: there was a weird, chemical smell in the room (maybe some disinfectant); it was unbearably hot with no air conditioning, and my window was close to some incredibly noisy a/c equipment from the nearby Northeastern University. The noise was so bad, I slept a grand total of 5 hours in two nights. Cleanliness was not an issue, but everything is very old; the showers have no locks.

I stayed in a private room, it was small but very clean. The bathroom was ok. The building and the facilities are not new but clean. The location was fine, very close to the metro station and walking distance from MFA. I found an excellent place to eat just opposite to the hostel. Internet did not work in my room but there were computers available in the common area

Falta um sistema wi-fi de internet. Os apartamentos poderiam ter ar-condicionados. Eles estavam extremamente quentes no verão quase não dava para dormir!

The biggest disappointment was no air conditioning. There is only 1 ladies room per floor. The pool is closed for at least 2 years. It is a very old building so floor layouts can be a bit strange. Because its a Y, it lacks any of the camaraderie some might be seeking in a hostel. Very clean!

I had a pretty good stay, the gym was awesome, the bed was very confortable, the staff was pretty attentious and always willing to help. The only bad thing was the weather, it was so warm and there wasn't conditioned air available.

It's an old building, so we weren't surprised when there wasn't any AC in the room. But we were very surprised with how unbearably hot the room was, even during the night! We rented a fan, but it didn't help much. We slept little and awfully, and we were exhausted after three days there... Just adding to the problem, the matresses are covered in plastic, which is great for the cleanliness of them, but sucks when it gets THAT hot. But: GREAT STAFF, all very helpful and nice!!

As the rooms do not have AC, even with a fan it is way too hot and uncomfortable. There is a lot of noise from trains and traffic during the night. The single rooms described as 'shared bathroom with one other room' is not accurate. It is a bathroom with two showers shared with the whole floor of rooms.

It is very a convenient location. The private room is suit for just one person. Just need to go bathroom outside. If you want to save money ,it is a good choice for you!

The rooms were small but sufficient. The bathroom down the hall was kept clean, and the front staff was very friendly. The only concern I would have would be hotter days and nights and there is no AC. It would be nice if the YMCA supplied each room with at least a fan.

The room was run down and the bed not so comfortable. I avoided showering during my stay because the bathrooms were not very clean. It was good value because it is located a few minutes from Prudential center. When booking, try and check where the room is situated. I was first given a room right in front of the male bathroom and about a ten minute walk from the elevator. After complaining, I got a room that was both bigger and better located, although there was noise from the tram on Huntington.

You got what you pay for. It is well located though. But I don't think the economy is worth due to the atmosphere and the room appearance. The room was really noisy during the night and I could hear people from the other rooms.

The hostel was as reasonably good as one could expect/ask for. It was a very convenient location, and much less expensive than any other place to stay inside Boston City limits. More convenient location wise for the price than say Motel 6. It has a great looking gym, and the facilities were reasonably clean. What stood out the most though, is I left a set of keys in the room after I departed and they sent security to the room right away to find them, as I was on hold on the phone!

Although the hostel was located in the center of Boston, it was close to one of the factories in the city which produced a lot of noise from early in the morning. The bathroom and rest room had no air outlet which made it so difficult to bath inside it and stench being trapped inside. Being a cheaper hostel, it had no Air-conditioner which might be a problem in extreme hot season. I'd like to recommend this hostel if you are in tight budget, otherwise I would suggest other hostels.

No cooling aircondition, fine in most days in boston which is cold. Some room with internet cable some do not. Near the railway a bit noisy. Internet speed good if with cable. excellent location! Very helpful staff.
