The hostel is run by two very sweet and relaxed girls, who go out of their way to help you with anything you may need. I stayed in a double room with ensuite bathroom, the room felt very airy and light and was done entirely in wood. The only downside to the room was that you couldn't open the window as it was a floor to ceiling window (like in shops) so in summer definitely a fan or air con will be needed.

We loved Yellow Canary! The staff are so amazing - super friendly, welcoming and they help you with anything you might need. The food here is excellent ( I had porridge each morning and it set me in good stead for the day!) and I felt as though I was in a home away from home. Very comfortable. The gorgeous pets (a playful kitten and a puppy) are a constant source of entertainment and make great buddies when relaxing! The ladies who run this are highly knowledgeable on China, too! Loved it!

The hostel was the highlight of our stay in Dali. The owners were just the most adorable girls we have had the pleasure to meet while visiting the area. They make sure that you stay is good and invite you to have afternoon (actually evening) tea with them. We stayed in the dorm (they have lockers!) and used the common area. Okay, they have curtains instead of doors, but it really never bothered us. They are very helpful and will give you all the info for a stress-free time in Dali.

This place is great. It's very quaint and small, but the best thing are the owners, 2 lovely ladies who are so helpful and make you feel at home. I was unwell and they made me a Chinese orange drink for my stomach. They gave good reccomendations about Shaxi and Baisha. Really nice pets and garden.. Dorm beds are a bit hard but private room was very comfy. 15 mins walk from old town, but town is quite busy and noisy so this distance makes hostel nice and quiet, and not too long to walk.

I really loved the tatami room I was, so cool and with a great atmosphere. The hostel is In a quite position and not so far from the chaotic old town (5 mins walking)! It was a great choice!!

The oweners, Kiki & Cici, were so kind and accomodating with everything, and really care about the traveler's experience. They helped me re-arrange travel plans & book train tickets, made some excellent noodles for dinner, and gave good suggestions for exploring the local area. The beds were very comfortable, and the hostel had a great, relaxed vibe. I especially liked their little cat and dog, which made the hostel feel snuggly & homey. Airport pick-up was great, too. Fantastic place!

When you arrive you feel like you are visiting friends. The two girls running the place is the friendliest staff we have ever met. Warm, including and polite. They made our stay in Dali something special and gave us good memories. They also helped us a lot with information and ticket booking. The hostel is a 15 min walk out of the old town, something we enjoyed. We give Canary Lodge our best recommendations.

We stay in Yellow Canary Logde for 3 nights. We love the dog, the cat, and the two Master Wugui. They have a garden, and plant a lot of vegetables. It is a lovely and nice place.

My stay in Dali some days ago was really, really nice. And one of the main reasons is definitely because of the nice staff at yellow canary. The two girl just help you out with everything and make your trip unforgetable. Thank you very much for the time and all the information I got for my daily plannings!

When we came to Dali we knew no one, but when we left, we left good friends! That's what the newly opened YCL is all about. Owners CiCi and KiKi make you feel like you are a part of their family (they even took me to the hospital after a small incident!) They also have an intimate knowledge of the area and can help with all of your travel needs. The tatami rooms are über comfortable and a ten minute stroll gets you into the heart of old town Dali. This is what traveling is all about! Stay here.

Excellent, quiet location. Very nicely decorated and themed with cute log cabins and their very own veggie garden. The staff were extremely helpful-both Kiki and qiqi are fluent in english and provide exceptional advice and assistance in getting the most out of your stay. Great, cheap, tasty organic food is available - and the staff are more than happy to teach you how to cook the dish you order. I've stayed at many hostels around china - and the yellow canary is easily the best I've stayed at!

I contacted Yellow Canary Lodge through emails to confirm transportation and facility problems. They replied fast with useful information. There was a 4-hour bus from Kunming West Bus Terminal to Dali. The lodge offered a shuttle service to public bus terminals. It was convenient. The lodge was beautiful especially considering the price. Place was safe and dormitory rooms were very clean. A public space for tea was decorated by Chinese calligraphy. They could help book tickets which was a plus.

This is a traditional Chinese hostel. The hosts are two nice girls, and they taught me Chinese and calligraphy for free. I love the beautiful yard here. The room I lived was also very confortable and tidy. Besides, the girls helped me to book a taxi, and picked me up in the railway station for free. The hosts are really very nice peole!
