People are far too hard on the York Street hotel, and I think it's because it names itself a "hotel", but for the price you're paying if you think you're going to end up with an actual hotel you're probably lacking in more than a few brain cells. It's really just a b&b, and if you're wanting cheap accommodation it does the job. It's a place to sleep that's not going to break the bank unless you try and book out the whole establishment, just don't expect good quality. Lovely people, shabby place.
First of all when we got there they had lost most of our booking (we had 18 and they only had a booking for 4). That being said they did an exceptional job of fitting us all in a bunch of smaller rooms and even managed to fit us all in the same building (of the 5 they own). The rooms were pretty gross but you get what you pay (or dont pay) for. Bring a change of sheets and dont look too closely at the stains on the walls and its an OK place to crash for the night. Not even as good as hostel.
