Staff was very friendly and hostel was located right next to the public transportation system that takes you to the middle of town very easily. At night, the trains were a bit loud but if you are a sound sleeper, don't worry about it. Breakfast in the morning was average. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hostel to others. I really enjoyed my stay at Youth Hostel Basel City. A friendly staff, clean rooms, very good location in a quiet district. Some guests say that such proximity to the railway station is a disadvantage. But for me it was a good bonus as I travelled a lot throughout Swizerland. Very expensive for what it is. I had a single without a bathroom or shower booked two months ahead and it came to around $50 Euros. But then its Switzerland. Check in was not allowed till 3pm with all the consequent problems. Also no proper internet options there. For that high price they could at least provide 3 or 4 free internet terminals.Very expensive for what it is. Also for elder people like us a very good place to stay. Excellent breakfast, clean toilet and bathroom (shared) and if you close your window the train noise is not too bad.Also for elder people like us a very good place to stay.
