This hostel lacked any personality or charm. This was due mainly to the fact that it was so big. The free breakfast was good, the bed was comfy, the location was great and the staff were helpful. On our first night there were a few school groups that were pretty loud and annoying. The internet is expensive. There was only one toilet per floor.This hostel lacked any personality or charm. Youth Hostel Bern was a good hostel. The facilities were clean, good location, breakfast was good and staff was helpful. The only bad thing was that we had to pay more than we thought. The reservation fee that we payed on Hostelworl was not been taken off from the room price,so we had to pay full amount on the hostel and some additional taxes which are required in Switzerland.This was a sad thing,we never had this on other places. A very big hostel, but well organised. The free breakfast was really good, although I might be a bit biased because I had not had toast in such a long time. Great for meeting people, although showers just have curtains and no way to lock a door or anything.A very big hostel, but well organised. There was someone sleeping in my friends bed when we arrived back. There was a cat in the room when we arrived back. The price i payed was not the price originally agreed with hostel World, i was charged more because i was not a member??? maybe this is the first and only time these things have happened but I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone. clean, efficient hostel.
nice staff, except for one who looked really annoyed when i asked her anything. a smile would have helped.

There was an incident when we where there. A girl was in the showers and a man came in and was jacking off in her underware. The staff was not very helpful at all for her, and no one really felt safe afterwards.There was an incident when we where there.
