I needed to be for a short stay in Bern and the youth hostel was a friendly and nice affordable option.

Nice enough hostel, just a bit too big to be sociable. The common area feels like a school canteen!

It's not the best youth hostel I've been to in Switzerland (the ones in Basel and Interlaken are amazing), but it is very good. What I didn't like is that there are no lockers inside the rooms, they are all in the corridors; and the shower was not really good as well. I would recommend it though!

Where to start.... the room door didn't always shut properly, the showers where horrible, I didn't get given a locker, the room only had one plug socket, the 10 bed dorm was actually a 12 bed dorm.....however the staff where friendly and the food in the canteen type place was amazing wasn't enough to make me wanna come again tho I'm glad it was only for one night!!!

There is only one power socket available in the dormitory of 4pax which is impossible for us to charge our battery when we back in the room. The location of this hostel is bit inside and quiet.

Add some darker and thicker curtains to the rooms. The rooms get too bright as soon as the sun rises. It was barely possible to sleep after 7 am. Just replace the white curtains with some darker and thicker ones ones. All the rest was perfect.

Good place to stay but I would recommend only for a few nights if you're young and looking for a fun time. It is very family oriented and the breakfast is not very good. I was also disappointed in that we only got wifi in the lobby. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean and nice!

Bern HI hostel has good rooms. Location is quite close to the main railway station. Staff is very good n helpful. It serves a superb breakfast buffet. It doesn't have kitchen facilities and the rates are on higher side, but nevertheless considering that its the capital of the country, rates would be higher. Overall can be recommended.

Very very noisy hostel, you can hear every bump and thud. 5 very sleepless nights and 4bed room was extremely small, to small for 4! Quite expensive for a hostel. Got hit for 6 Fr extra each night due to some tax or something???? Why was this not shown on hostelworld website? Booked at set price yet charged more on arrival???

The hostel was okay -- clean facilities, decent wifi, comfy beds, great location. However, it lacked character and didn't really provide any opportunities for socializing. Also, laundry was extremely expensive, and though wifi was free on your own device, it cost way too much to use their computers (a service that should be absolutely be free). For the price of this hostel, I would have expected much, more more.

Great stay. Felt a bit expensive but I think most places in Switzerland are expensive. Nice location. Definitely ride the cable car up the hill with your luggage! Easy to find. Just follow the signs. Good, cheap dinner. Very clean.

Very expensive for what it had to offer. No kitchen facilities available. Showers were the type where you had to push a buttton and they only ran for about 30 seconds at a time, and there was no where in the cubicles to change or hang your clothes. The location was good as it was only a short walk from the station and the beds were really comfy. It's as cheap as Switzerland gets, but at the end of the day have stayed in better hostels for half the price.

The location is great, central and with the vunicular easy to get back up into the town. The breakfasts were great and filling and staff very friendly and helpful. The old bus ticket is a better deal from the hostel desk than the ticket machine. Great for a quiet night's sleep.

Very expensive, even by Switzerland standards for what you get. But a nice place overall, clean and quiet and good breakfast.
