About

Bern Youth Hostel is worthy of a capital city. Situated in a listed building and with a view of the Aare loop, the ultra-modern redesign brought a bright extension with seminar rooms and a garden seating area. As before, you are able to plan activities over lunch or under the trees, including a visit to the square in front of the Federal Parliament Building with its 26 water fountains, the bear park, the Paul Klee centre, the Einstein House or the arcades in the historic old town. And don't miss out on the excitement of swimming in the River Aare or biking on the Gurten mountain!

Summary of traveller reviews

Bern Youth Hostel in Bern offers a fantastic location near the Aare river and city centre, with modern facilities and exceptionally friendly, helpful staff. Guests appreciate the cleanliness and comfortable beds. It's a great base for exploring Bern, though some find it less social and note that rooms can get warm.

This is an odd hostel. The demographics of guests were weird, with it being mostly filled with teens in large school/program groups. Every USB-charging port next to all of the beds in my room did not work so I had to charge my devices elsewhere. There are only 2-3 showers per floor, with each floor having at least 25+ people. My shower had run out of hot water twice, and I had to take freezing showers. Just overall felt like there was a weird vibe and not a place I'd stay if you're in your 20's.

10/10 hostel, was expensive but it’s Switzerland and in the middle of Bern, STAFF WERE 10/10, guy on the desk in particular with the beard (don’t know your name sorry) he was so nice and made sure to remember my name even though we barely spoke and gave me loads of tips!!

Adequate for visiting Bern, generally a hostel for children’s school trips and older adults.
