YHM is located very near the Centraal Station and the Red Light District, and is on a fairly busy street. You don't get a key or keycard, but a piece of paper that you show to the reception to be let in to the hotel. The door into the bar from the lobby is otherwise locked. You can get a huge barrel drum as a locker, it is safe but not very convenient. Large dorms are crowded but adequate, facilities pretty much the same. Small breakfast for 2.50. Overall, not very flashy but solid.

The location is really good. But it is just so poorly conditioned. Rooms are without locks. Wifi and charging is only available on the grand floor at the bar. Free-Wifi has to be connected to facebook, it is really unexpected. The breakfast was ok for 2.5 euros in Amsterdam

It was ok, very close to everything, great if you only have a couple of days in the city and want to make the most of it.

This hostel is perfect for a group looking for cheap accommodation in a super location. We stayed in the 18 bed dorm and it was grand, just what we were looking for, somewhere to sleep at night! Staff were friendly and the bar downstairs was great! I'd definitely stay here again as the location was so good and it was really reasonably priced! There's lots of stairs though and no plug sockets in the rooms, you've to charge your phone downstairs but apart from that its great!

The rooms should be able to lock. That's all.

Top-location. One of the highlights is the bar with good music. The breakfast for 2,50 EUR is well worth the money

Very friendly and helpful staff members. Good breakfast. Excellent value for money. I wish there were plug points inside the hostel room where you could charge your phones instead of going to the lounge downstairs. That was the only drawback.

There is no elevator in the hostel! U can't lock your door,it is very unsafe! U have to pay 2 euro for the locker and their locker is an iron pail! Every time u use the locker there are big noisy! It is very close to the red light district ! And there are no plug in the room, u have to go downstairs to charge ur phone, it is very inconvenient!

Well, It's Amsterdam ! Maybe too many smoking here. The room is simple but not clean, a bit messy and dirty There is not real "Hot Water". I cannot accept there is NO ELECTRIC SOCKER in the room. No wifi in the room too. Just a bed with nothing.

Really did not enjoy my stay in this hostel. Located in the sketchiest part of Amsterdam and the facilities were not very good. The 18 person dorm was extremely unpleasant to stay in (sounded like a human zoo at nighttime) and there were no locks on the room doors, etc. Also, the rooms had no wall outlets which I found to be quite absurd. If you want to charge your phone, you have to go down to the bar and sit with it while it charges. Really not ideal when you want to spend the day travelling.

The location of the hostel is very good, in fact the best you can hope for: right beside the Central Station and Damrak with the red light district and Anne Frank House in walking distance. But the cleanliness is average and every time you need a soap you have to pay 50 cents and another 50 cents for a towel is definitely not OK.

Nice people, good bar and smoking area. Bedrooms are big rooms with lots of beds and this may be not very confortable, but in general it's good! The position is really great and very close to the train station
