Great spot to stay if you are planning on hiking in Montreux! Bathrooms and rooms were very clean, and didn't smell bad like a lot of hostels do. Breakfast was good too. Our one complaint were the automatic lights that kept switching off as we showered, and lack of power outlets in the room.
It's a bit of a walk from the centre but its manageable and its right on the lake which is beautiful. Would definitely recommend the bus if you have lots of luggage though. Breakfast is good. Pretty clean. No complaints.
This hostel was great for me and my friend. It's right on the lake with beautiful views. Clean rooms, very clean and private toilets/showers. Breakfast was good and they had a great coffe machine. They give you public transportation pass which is very nice to get around. The staff explains the maps and things to do at check in. Overall very pleased with my stay. And wifi!
A little outside but the walk to the hostel is really nice Close to rail lines so a hit noisy otherwise it's good
Didt like this place. The directions to get ther are totally unusefull. Is far away and if you get there between the hours they dont have reception you cant even leave your stuff in a locker or something. Very impersonal, not atmosphere, but was very clean
Montreux is beautiful and shouldn't be missed. With that said, this hostel lacked in many categories. Service was bad, no kitchen to cook, no laundry, wifi was only available in a small and uncomfortable room. The positives being you get free public transport with a Riviera card and its very close to the Chateau de Chillon. (a must see)
Great location to explore the area. Dinner and breakfast tasty!
The location is really not good. Its 20 minutes walk to a supermarket or resturants. The staff wasn't nice. A quit place with nothing to do
this hostel is really clean. the location is so far. but there has good lake way!
Typical YHA city hostel, bland, soulless and functional, but hey it''s a bed. Location on the Lake Geneva shoreline, perfect spot for after breakfast coffee in the early morning sunshine.
Stayed one night during the Jazz Fest. I think it's the only option for a hostel in Montreux. About a 30 minute walk from the train station and 10 minute walk from the Castle. The age-range of the guests varied greatly....most likely due to the festival. Lots of young high school aged kids (who played in a band/orchestra during the festival) and older adults (who didn't want to pay for a hotel). Other than that, the place was nice and located about 30 meters from the lake!
This hostel is next to a railtrack which carries freight trains all night. Do not expect a good night`s sleep. Although clean enough, the place lacks any real character and has no proper place to socialise and meet people.
Stayed here during the Montreaux Jazz Festival, and the location was great! It was about a 20-25 minute walk from the hostel to the festival, and it was nice to not have to depend on trains or buses. Unfortunately, all the rooms face the train tracks so if you keep the window open for air circulation, you hear the trains barreling through all night. I took sleeping pills and slept fine, though. The facilities are fine, and they provide free breakfast! Probably not the most social hostel though.
A bit out of the way for a city as small as Montreux, but since the area is quite small everything is fairly walkable (about 25-30 minutes to the main train station though) Staff was MIA during most of the day which is annoying, but competent when they are there, breakfast was quite good, and bathrooms were clean (but light timers are short) - just beware that the train tracks are very close and you will certainly hear each train that goes by
It's a youth hostel, be prepared for the youths. But not too far a walk from everything and 2 secs from the water and most gorgeous views!
The hostel is a half hour walk from the train station, or a five minutes on bus 201. The rooms did feel a bit cramped, but as we barely spent any time there it wasn't a problem. Some people may not like the fact that free WiFi can only be accessed in the lobby and not in the rooms, and there is only one plug socket available. Breakfast was great, and the staff were also amazing when organising dinner for the two of us along with two large school groups at the same time. Would stay here again.
