Youth hostel is by far the cheapest place to stay in zermatt. If you are coming here it's a great place to stay. Not mention our room having a view of the Matterhorn. Breakfast is the best hostel breakfast I have ever had. No wifi in the rooms which kinda stinks but you can make due without it. Dinner at the hostel is 17.50 and the cheapest place for dinner in the whole city unless you go to McDonald's. Overall best place to stay in the expensive city of zermatt.
It was a great hostel. Bathrooms were clean and lockers were huge. Staff was great. Christian, who works at the front desk, was a really funny guy. Good place to stay in Zermatt.
Wifi only works on the first 2 floors (first being reception and second being food hall) which is pretty inconvenient, says that it has lockers but they are 2CHF I'm assuming per use? Only one washing machine and dryer so you will be waiting a while if you need to do washing. Very expensive for what you get but most of Zermatt is like that
this hostel was pretty good, friendly staff, the free breakfast was really good, WiFi was decent, managed to get it in my room when staff said it was only available on reception and 1st floor, location is good, 10 minute walk from train station. would recommend this place for Zermatt if your on a budget
Very clean - cleanest bathrooms I've seen in a hostel. Amazing breakfast for a free breakfast. The staff is very helpful. I think the beds are normal bunk beds in all the other rooms, but the 8 bed mixed dorm we stayed in had beds all lined up right next to each other. You're basically sharing a queen sized bed with the person next to you. Awkward.
The staff was very informative. The facilities were very clean. The breakfast was also very good. Great experience.
Really nice hostel. Like a lot of things in Switzerland, you have to walk up a big hill to get there! The facilities are fine - I had the hostel dinner to save money and I was given a lot of food for a good price.
The hostel has a great view that you could see the Matterhorn from the window! It's definitely a nice hostel to stay in but beware that when you walk from the station you have stairs to climb. It's quiet at night and staff here are super helpful. Highly recommend this place!
I don't know how this place has such a good review...
PROS: Great location. Relatively clean. Great Food. CONS: The lockers in the room require a 2fr coin to get in and out. Many loud groups of kids which get annoying after a while. Reception is barely open and you have to give a deposit which you are unlikely to get back if you need to leave early in the morning. Wifi is purposely designed to only work in the lobby because the hostel doesn't want kids to be on facebook all day... What about all the older people who need to plan their trip???
For a YHA hostel and travelling by myself, this hostel was really nice. You have a great view of the Matterhorn! Breakfast is included, bad thing is it doesn't have a kitchen. Everything else was great, nice young atmosphere easy to make friends when trying to cook food in a microwave.
Thank you for a great stay at Youthhostel Zermatt. You were very helpful. Your rooms were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with plenty to eat and a good variety. Just great for a walk in the forest. You have provided a really good and friendly atmosphere.
The youth hostel is quiet and calm, not so many young backpacker's staying. Maybe the hostel can try to hold some events to put ppl together :)

Having Wifi only in the lobby with very few electrical outlets can cause a bit of a headache. Overall, the hostel was nice and clean, I would stay here again.
It's a decent enough hostel. I was stuck on the top floor, on an end, which means the room had a sloping roof and the window had no view. Morning staff was very friendly but the girl that checked me in was not. She seemed quite snobby about my non-HI member status. It's a decent hostel, but I would probably look for something smaller in the future.
Nothing special about it, although a nice place to stay. Staff knew the area well and were helpful in recommending activities for the day based on the weather, which is a big factor when staying in Zermat .
Should have advice that the way to go Hostel is like to climb Matterhorn
The biggest plus is that this is the cheapest place to stay in Zermatt. The facilities were good. It was missing a kitchen. There were a lot of families here with children which made it a much less social environment. The 8 bed dorm room was very claustrophobic. Although I'm an average height, I bumped my head many times on the sloped ceiling.
Staff were friendly. No lift, which was a pain. No wifi in room. Breakfast was excellent!!
