This is a very friendly hostel, BUT NOT SUITED FOR EVERYONE. People that expect a very nice and clean place to stay should not look at cheap guesthouses like zackrys. This place is suited for people who wants to meet new people and have a good time. The guesthouse often cook dinner and sometimes also live music. All so we guests will enjoy our stay and chat with peoples from different parts of the world! So if youre unsocial and just looking for a cheap bed, DONT STAY THERE

The common area and room are quite good. The location is okay. What bothered us was that often no one from the hostel was around. No real help with organizing our trip to Kuala Lumpur and in the end it would have been better we hadn't asked at all because we just waited and in the end didn't get tickets or any useful information after all. No laundry service. If you decide to stay there don't expect to get a lot of service/info/help.

Zackary Guest house is one of the best guest houses I have been. Sam is an awesome guy! The Langkawi island is beautiful.

Basic guesthouse with lots of character. Rooms are clean and good value for Money. The guy Sam who works there is great. He likes to help you meet new people and is very knowledgable about the island. On the first day we arrived, weren't even here 10 minutes and he had invited us out fishing with him for the afternoon. My girlfriend even broke one of his fishing rods and he was really cool about it. Felt like home, great atmosphere. Ended up staying a few extra days. Would defiantly stay again.

Very close to the pretty beach of Patai Tangah, still within walking distance of the main tourist strip but not too close that it still has a village feel. Cheapest hostel we could find on Langkawi and it was good value.

Sam is crazy and fun. He tries hard to please guests! Not too far from Pantai Cenang, where everything is. Just rent a scooter for 30 RM for 24h and you won't have any problem moving around! This guest house is a good example of what Langkawi is, you don't do much, you chill, and you are just happy about it! You will stay longer than planned ahaha!

Zackry has excellent location and value for money. The information provided on the Island was very helpful and the hostel provides island hopping and other packages at easy availability. However, the owner is a rather rude person. He is brash and does not really provide any hospitality. He is not going to ask how your experience was, or whether you are facing any troubles. Good enough place if you are a backpacker and want no-frills. Else, look elsewhere.

Sam who runs the place is a legend and made my stay very memorable. Hilarious guy and offers people to join him fishing, will come clubbing and all sorts. Great stuff. I met a TON of people here, cheap bear and chilled space was great.

We stayed there for a couple of days and really enjoyed our stay. Ask Sam if you have any questions, he really knows where to go to have some cheap tasty food, which beaches are fine, etc. They have a nice common room you can spend your time there to chat with the others in some nice atmosphere (tell Sam to drop the volume of the TV a bit) and enjoy Langkawi. We really recommend this Hostel.

Not bad but I recommend having your own transport to get to the main areas as it is quite a walk in the midday sun!

If you're traveling on your own, this is definitely the place you should stay. Mostly because of Sam, the bartender. He arranges all sorts of trips for the guests and facilitates ways for everyone to meet each other. When I was there he even brought us all to his brother's wedding! The facilities are what you'd expect - clean and serviceable. And you're just a short walk from a couple different beaches and restaurants (you'll take a 24 ringgit cab ride from the ferry terminal to the hostel).

Good place to stay, a little far from the main bars like babylon. Good place if you just want to go to the beach and hang out ar the hostel. Clean and big rooms!

Had a great time The staff made us feel very welcomed & organized a lot of group tours/trips for those @ the hostel @ prices that were considerably less than booking a tour on our own. Our 3 person room was very clean, had aircon that worked amazingly, as well as our own private bathroom. It is not on the main "tourist" strip, but it is very walk-able to many things including a very nice beach. They do not pick you up from the airport like it says on their website but a taxi is only 18MYR.

zakry has umbrellas and beachmats, you can use, if you need. The all you can eat offer on evenings is 25 RM, which is a lot for pasta and salad. There is a verx nice Restaurant close to Zakry's. The name is Rumah Makan Khartija, where a meal starts from 3 RM. But i really recommend Zakry for staying there.

There's not that many budget-accommodation options found in Langkawi. Zackry was nicely located, just a short walk to the beach and to the town. The staff made everybody welcome and join the group while on common area. The free tea-coffee-water machine was really good idea. Saves you from dragging water from a store! Zackry is best suited for backpacker-minded travelers who like to meet new people while travelling. The rooms are clean and the showers have warm water.

Zachary Guest house was a suitable location in the most tourist orientated part of the island. The facilities were average and local staff were pleasant and helpful. Our sole encounter with the ex-patriate owner was unfortunate as he was extremely rude as a result of being under the influence of alcohol when I happened to park my hired car in a place I had been told previously by the local staff was perfectly acceptable. As a result of his attitude, my whole appreciation of Zacahary plummeted

Located 5 minutes from the quitter beach (tengah), and 5 minutes from the best late-night bar (Sunba), and next to some great restaurants. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the communal atmosphere was a definite plus for this single traveler. The room was basic, and the bed wasn't incredibly comfortable, but for the money it was an excellent deal. The feel of the place, though, was really where the value was. Met some great friends and had a wonderful stay.
