a good hotel considering the price. it will be very inconvenient without a car, so the location is not so good. staff is friendly, and I love his dogs and ducks. but I have to say the light in the doom is very dark, hardly can see anything at night.

Basic hostel but in a great location just a few minutes walk from the beach and short distance from the main stretch of restaurants, bars and shops. Really friendly staff with nice onsite bar.

Nice staff. No problems. Extended my stay. It's a little way off the main eateries strip but the public beach access is nearby. I would recommend.

The room was ugly but clean, the wifi was slow but worked, there was information about tours but none offered them to you much...the last day we had arranged a taxi to go to some place (cable car), but the girl forgot to call the taxi...Free cold water and the situation that we never lost anything when the staff cleaned the room were the best things in the hostel...the rest of the items were in average, nothing special.

This is a very good hostel, would definitely stay here again. It has a good common room with a lot of cable tv channels and cheep beer with cocking facilities. its close to Cenang beach and restaurants and shops. The owners are so nice and are very helpful.

We really enjoyed Zackry's. The common area is a great way to meet and socialize w/other guests (our fav thing about Zack's). The kitchen helps to save money on food & water (& it's very clean). You can't bring in outside alcohol to the common area but they sell beer & mixed drinks for cheap (3 RM/beer). A few good & cheap restaurants located along the road & the beach here (Tengah) is a bit calmer than the other main beach (Cenang) & as a result, it's a nicer spot. Booked 2 nights & stayed 4.

I stayed here for 4 nights whilst i was in Langkawi and really enjoyed my stay here. The guys & Sam on reception are really friendly and helpful. The rooms& bathrooms were clean. Rooms get cleaned everyday! Location was perfect near to the beach, restaurants & shops. Free umbrellas & beach mats was great and also having free & fast wifi! I have nothing to fault after my stay at Zackrys and will definitely be going back again next year. Excellent value for money :)

The guy who was in charge at the hostel was a bit inappropriate at times with the female guests. I saw him giving many shoulder rubs as he chatted with them. He was nice enough and really tried to get the guests to hang out in the evenings. We just weren't in the state to party and felt pressured and "judged' when we declined the invite. There was also many inappropriate things said by said hostel guy to guests and us. We just feel that there is a line and this guy has gone over it.

I stayed here for 5 nights and found that there were many people who kept extending their stay here. For a single traveler, this place is great as the double room costs about the same as a dorm bed in a lot of other hostels. There is a common area which is pretty big and it is very easy to meet people and the beer is very cheap. Even though i joked with Sam that i will give him a bad review, he was a nice guy and did a good job integrating everyone staying there. location was ok too.

Only for 3 nights it was okay. Staff is friendly, but a little bit lazy. Atmosphere was strange, but it is clean and the facilities are good. Beach is close and not very busy. It is a quite place where you can relax.

It's a perfect place to meet fellow travellers. WiFi is fast and also available in your room. The beach is near and there are cheap restaurants nearby. Khatija for lunch 10MYR per couple, Mangga for dinner 15MYR per couple.

Well, our schedule was changed and we arrived in the next morning of the night we'd planned to arrive. Surprisingly, although I'd made a call and informed the owner about our late arrival, he'd given the room to somebody else. As the hostel policy was a minimum of 2 nights fee admission, we payed for the next night that we would not be there. The guy had a respectful but unfriendly behaviour with us. The hostel is located near to the main beach and also to the island hopping ferry terminal.

Sam (staff member) goes out of his way to make everyone feel welcome and helps people interact. I had a great time and met some great people. I will say however that room10 smelt a bit musty and damp during my stay but was clean with fresh sheets and towels every other day. I didn't use the cooking equipment / small kitchen but from what I noticed it was basic, allowing for guests to at least make their own breakfast and simple dinners etc.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The atmosphere was really friendly and the bar man made sure everyone was integrated which helped make everyone feel welcome. They had a cheap bar with a beer costing RM3. Despite the social aspect and cheap booze the place managed to maintain a chilled out feel and was never noisy at night. The hostel is a 5 minute walk to a nice, quiet beach and right next to some good restaurants, with the main resort a 15 minute walk away.

Great location minutes from the beach and surrounded by restaurants. Not on the main drag but that's what makes it great. Cheap drinks as Langkawi is duty free, great bar and Sam looks after everyone and gets people involved. No need to visit a bar here just hang around at the hostel bar great way to meet people. Sam is very helpful at getting tours etc set up and seems to get some descent prices too. Will be back.

My stay at Zackry Guesthouse was definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Malaysia. Although the facilities aren't very clean and the pool isn't actually functional, the atmosphere of the place made up for everything. Sam immediately makes you feel right at home, and helps you figure out what to do and where to go. I had a lot of fun at Zackry and would absolutely recommend staying here if you are looking to meet other travelers and have a good time!

I got a private double and I thought it was pretty great. I loved Sam, who runs the bar. There's a great lobby/bar to mingle with other backpackers--very cool vibe.
