the wate supply is a bit weak and the room is a bit old. other than that, the overall performance is good as the cost is low in town centre.
The staff was generally trying to be nice and helpful. However gave me two wrong tips (from total two) and the morning manager was since the first moment he arrived. Otherwise everything was fine. I don't consider it good value for money, because for 30 USD you can have a nice private in Europe. But compared to other places in Sydney it was fine.
Stayed in a 4-bed dorm which had en-suite bathroom. Room decent size. Kitchen very small as was common room. Staff helpful, has laundry facilities and outdoor seating. About 30 minutes from CBD but supermarket and some bars/restaurants nearby. Wifi pretty terrible. All in all an ok stay, pretty standard prices for Oz. Plenty of folk going out but less of a party hostel than some of the others on the same street.
It wasn't the cheapest hostel but was only a short walk to the main touristy things like the harbour bridge etc so cant complain. Came home one evening to find my door open (private room) and I' m pretty OCD with things like that so sure I didnt do it. Nothing missing though.
I had a private room the only windows of which opened to the common area, where people would come to smoke even after 10. Also, the room was really dingy, small and cramped. The staff and location were great though, and probably the place would be ok for party animals and people who smoke anyway.
Our smoke detector was broken, had issues checking out- no one was in reception at 8:30am, the bathrooms were filthy. And there was no breakfast- could even find a clean cup for coffee
When we arrived our room was not cleaned although it was in the middle of the afternoon. We were given a tiny 2 bed room (not too cheap) where it was hard to move with the both of us in it. Plus the room was on the groundfloor and very close to the street, so we could hear everyone coming and going and talking on the phone in front of our window. In the kitchen, there were not even ordinary mugs or something. For breakfast there was no bread and no milk, but cornflakes... Staff was really nice.
The staff was very helpful and had answeares for all my questions. Great place to meet other people as they arrange events every day of the week.
The staff where all really helpful and it's in a good location. The only down side is that the kitchen is a bit small, and it would benefit from having more bathrooms as the toilets and showers are in they same room, so if someone is showering then you have to wait a while to use the bathroom.
I was originally booked at Zing, but upon arrival the wonderful receptionist (Tom) told me that the room I was meant to stay in was not up to his standards so he brought me next door to "The Originals" (which is their sister hostel) and made sure that my room over there was up to par. I am very pleased with my stay at the Originals and couldn't have been happy without the help of the wonderful staff that work at both Zing and the Originals! I definitely reccommend staying at either hostel!
In Sydney for a conference, only slept here and was fine for that. Slightly musty smell in the room
