Do not get a room with a window facing the inner courtyard due to the noise coming from the bar. In addition, we did not have soap in our room upon arrival (for washing our hands or in the shower). However, excellent location and friendly staff.

We stayed at the hostel for an extended period of time, despite this we found the majority of the staff were quite rude and unpleasant. Not very friendly at all, considering they were seeing us everyday! The exception were 2 of the reception/office staff! The hostel itself is very well run, clean and organised. I would stay there again, I guess I just expected people to be friendlier.

A perfect hostel. Really spacious, quiet, clean, fun, great location and super friendly staff. We came here after leaving early from a different hostel in Edinburgh which was awful despite being rated the highest in Scotland.

Fantastic location, right in the heart of Edinburgh. Very friendly and helpful staff. Well equipped kitchen (please sharpen the knives!). Free wifi is only available in the bar area, but that wasn't a big issue - it's quite large, there's no pressure to buy anything, and it's fairly quiet. Only concern we had was that our ensuite for our 6 bed dorm wasn't cleaned for the entirety of our three night stay, nor was there much effort to empty the rubbish.

Greatlocation, great people and nice hostel overall. Please note WIFI is NOT INCLUDED, you will need to pay extra if you want to use wifi in the room. Otherwise, the hostel was great :)! Rooms are cleaned everyday and there are lockers for each bed (bring a padlock). The place feels very safe and is extremely close to the high street. The bathroom in my dorm flooded within 5 minutes, but that's enough time for a shower so visitors should be fine.

The hostel is OK, and excellent location. However, the beds smell bad and the bathroom did not seem to have been clenaed from one day to the next one. If you improve these items then everything will be perfect.

Stayed in room 501, had a disturbing and noisy night. Apart that the stay experience was good.

It's a big commercial hostel with a great bar to meet other residents. Good food which was not too expensive. Separate ensuite shower and toilet was a big plus and lots of plug points near every bed. Each bed has it's own reading light which was awesome. Would definitely recommend this place.

Nice place to stay. Central location. Great showers which every backpacker should appreciate! There is no age restriction and we ended up sharing a room with a man well in his 50's and another in his late 60's which I don't think is really appropriate in a hostel.

Great location in the Old Town. Central and very close to the Royal Mile as well as to many pubs & attractions. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean self-catering kitchen even though a cooked Scottish breakfast is available. Bathroom and shower in seperate rooms. The bedlinen/sheets were already changed on our arrival. Veronica, Germany

If you look for a living room with a music so high that you don´t get thinking or speaking, this is your hostel. If you look for a place where the atmosphere is like to go in a cavern where your senses disappear and you are absorbed completely, this is your hostel. The rest is ok, clean, with kitchen, rooms clean and totally impersonal!
