Really good hostel! I only spent one night, but worth it. Only comments is that Wifi need to be improved (really slow, only if you pay you can get a better one...). Heating was not on that night, and it was a bit chilly, but manageable. All in all, I like the atmosphere, and the room (I was in a 6bed room, but all for myself!) was really clean.

This was the secund time that I stay in this hostel and I will recommend it to friends. Thanks

This is the second time I have used this smartcityhostel and was delighted with my stay, although was colder at night and having an extra blanket available would certainly of helped!! All the staff I met staff were super efficient, extremely helpful and most welcoming, nothing was a problem, and their tourist information was spot on. I would and will recommend this hostel to all my friends and family and anyone I hear visiting Edinburgh without hesitation, have already booked my next stay.

Had a great time in Edinburgh over weekend. Found a great pub too, 'The Royal Oak', just a stone's throw from Hostel...excellent! Facilities are very good, and a good breakfast for just an extra £5, you couldn't go wrong! - Padraig, Dublin, Ireland

Location is perfect. Staff is OK for check in/out but dont expect more like advice for a place to eat. Not clean enough even if it was OK. Wifi doesn't work. Very noisy from the street but that's quite normal according to the location but also very noisy from the inside with people shouting all night. This is the kind of "old teenagers and early twenties going out and drinking youth hostel". Price is correct for the accommodation.

No hooks in the showers? How hard is that really?

Very noisy until 1am due to being above the bar courtyard. A common room would be good, didn't feel comfortable going into the bar in the evening when everyone is in there for a night out. But otherwise a clean hostel in a great central location.

The hostel is bang in the middle of the city. It probably offers the best value for money when it come to (haggis!) breakfast in town. The 4bed dorm are reasonably sized, nice bathroom and the hostel has got a nice lively bar. Many families which was great to see!

Helpful staff. Great location. An ideal base for the Fringe. It is the second time I have stayed for the Fringe Festival.

very good location, breakfast a good deal

You could do with a quiet room/ longe. They advertise one on the wall but it's adjacent tot he dining room, which is always busy and noisy. Also, your wifi is appalling. My friend had to get her money back after using the work station 'internet.'

The fact that the lockers in my room didn't take a standard padlock was slightly annoying, especially as most seasoned hostellers will carry one. The room was secure though. That apart this was a great busy hostel close to everything. If you are looking for somewhere chilled then perhaps try a smaller one, especially during festival time but if not then you can't go wrong with this place. Desk staff were also very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!

Great location and facilities, would definitely stay here again. Only suggestion for improvement would be the wi-fi - I wasnt able to connect to it at all (except once when the hostel was very quiet) and lots of other people were having the same problem.

Advertising that you have free wifi is somewhere between a wild exaggeration and a lie. For an extra 5 pounds you can have wifi.

Had the room for 4 people and thought it was great value for money. Very clean and excellent facilities. The hostel is also ideally situated close to the train station and the Edinburgh night life. Would highly recommend it.

In a great spot for exploring old town. Having to go through the bar to get to the elevator to my room was not ideal. No common room in which to sit and get to meet other travellers was disappointing as the only place to sit was the noisy bar. More of a hotel than a hostel.

Well situated hostel in the heart of Edingburgh. A bit of noice from the city, but that's part of citylife. The room was nice and tidy. L. Buch, Denmark.

Very nice hostel. Only criticism is wifi accessibility in the room was poor. It was not consistently connecting and only has fair service when it was connected.
