Great crowd of Western travelers. This was an excellent alternative to the crowds and noise in Thamel. 10 minute hike up to Monkey Temple. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was great. They also recommended a great trekking company. Highly recommended.

Being away from the busy centre of Thamel made this a thoroughly enjoyable stay for three nights. The staff have a lot of character and are a good laugh. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone visiting Kathmandu!

Was a nice, clean place to stay. not somewhere you feel at home as such, one of those places where you feel like a bit of an ATM being chipped away at but it does include breakfast which is quite nice :) The nepalise teenagers who work for the hostel are especially lovely. has a nice atmosphere in the evenings if there are other backpackers around. Could do with a little less focus on money and a little more heart, thats just the opinion of me and of many who stay here. I'd recommend it.

Problably the best place to stay in Kathmandu! For sure is the best staff in town! is good to have someone who can speak english and is not lazy! which is difficult to find around! The facilities are nice and very new! the toilets are perfect! The free breakfast is also the best in town!My problem while was the difficulties to get there during the night! You defenly have to go by taxi.. and i got attacked by dogs on the street in one late night, mongs singing on early morning are annoying!

Awesome staff and new, classy facilities, great food. Away from the bustle of Thamel, so if you're looking for that scene, this isn't the place for you. If you want somewhere relaxed and mellow with a different vibe and very helpful owners, this is it. Would stay there again, this is more than just a hostel.

We enjoyed our stay, but certain parts of the review is based on the fact that the hostel was in the middle of moving from one building to another at the time of our stay. Therefore, we have only rated the facilities of the hostel as 'average'. We are sure that this will change, when everything is settled in the new building. For the record, the location of the new building is great, and we are sure that the new Sparkling Turtle is going to be fantastic. Helpful and extremely friendly staff.

Not much hot water. Only once in the four days I stayed. Far from the city centre. Must take a taxi back a night due to wild dogs and lack of street lighting. very limited electricity and no generator!! However hostel is very clean and staff are awesome - ONeal is a very helpful guy!!

The time I had at the sparkling turtle will never be forgotten. The great staff - from the chef up to the great canadian managers - makes it hard to leave this place. In addition I've never seen such luxury facilities then in this hostel - you feel like in a palast. You can get a lot support from the hostel if you don't know what to do in Nepal or where to stay next. They are very well connected to a lot of people and if you are as cool as me you might get even a job offer ;)

For having relocated the hostel only 4 days before our stay, the hostel was in good working condition! The breakfast in the morning was amazing and the staff was helpful in giving suggestions. The location is great, very close to Bhudda park and Monkey Temple and only a 25 min walk to Durbar Square. Since the hostel is located just off the ourskirts of the extremely busy and dusty tourist district, it's much quieter for a great nights sleep!

I have stayed at a lot of great hostels over the years, but the atmosphere at this place is absolutely the best. Like many other travelers, I ended up stayed longer than I had intended because of the friendly people who work there, the lovely upstairs cafe with the delicious food, and the overall jolly vibe that infuses the whole place. That the hostel is spotless and located in a nice neighborhood are but the icing on the awesome cake.

Nice hostel with good management. It is close to the monkey temple but away from Thamel, the tourist area. You can potentially walk to Thamel (30 mins) but it\'s a dusty, polluted hike - Cab/Taxi are 150-200 NPR. Hot water is solar only - pretty bad if the sun doesn\'t come out in cold weather. No Wifi. Free hot Breakfast is nice. Owners are cool and fun to hang out with. They are moving to a newer facility few minutes from the current one soon.

This is THE place you want to stay in, in Kathmandu! The most beautiful (newly built!) house I've seen in Nepal and probably the friendliest staff in the world. A really really good place to meet other travellers at too! Come come come.
