Off the advice of a friend I stayed here instead of thamel. Finding it at four AM was difficult but its well placed outside the mayhem of the centre of town. It takes roughly thirty minutes to walk. The facilities are decent and there's a good social area for conversation although the power is off for ten hours a day so dinner by candle light is likely. It's clean, the beds are comfy and the food is very good although expensive. I'd definitely return.

It is a good place to meet people. If you want to have more privacy, your space, dont go there. If you want to meet new people, its good!

Good value for money. Nice food and comfortable beds! Toilets didn't flush most of the time though.

Has great potential and is a good place to meet other travellers. Has very nice Nepali staff/ helpful Canadian manager. The place is a great place to start. However, the manager does need to organise himself a little better, sort toilet rolls and soap in the toilets, fixing flushes and arranging a back up power supply as we were sitting in darkness watching nearby households watch TV. I'd shop around for tours and not trust the recommended guy 'KP'. Good on a whole and worth checking out but.

The Sparkling Turtle was a great hostel, excellent location in Kathmandu, friendly and helpful staff and good food too! I do recommend bringing some ear plugs to drown the noise of the nonstop barking dogs at night, but you'll find that anywhere in Kathmandu!! I highly recommend the Sparkling Turtle! --Josh from Canada!

Everything was great except for the hot water not working due to power outages in Nepal. The place is really nice, one of the best hostels I've ever been

The hostel was awesome. The owners were the best ones and the make you feel at home. Definitively worths too much and if I go to Kathmandu again, definitively I wil stay in the same place. Is very close also to the Monkey Temple, which is a must in that city.

The Sparkling Turtle really is the place to be in Kathmandu! This hostel has a warm welcoming, friendly and funny staff! Akash (the boss) will help you out with everything you need, lovely guy! the chefs are always available with delicious food and a great burger menu! (make sure to design your own burger to leave as your legacy!) its a great location being out of the chaos of the main town tamil, not along walk or a very cheap taxi ride away! BBQ on roof was awesome! love the english lads! xx
