40 Berkeley Hostel

We really enjoyed our stay as far as location and friendliness of staff etc go. The only thing it could do with is a lick of paint to brighten it up and the staff not cleaning bathrooms (and closing them) at peak times in the morning when theres only one bathroom per floor (per sex)

The hostel is pretty far from South Station if you are walking with luggage.
The rooms are pretty small.
The staff were okay. Most of them were pretty rude to us, but one of them was very helpful.

free wifi does not work in any spaces except for the kitchen area, which makes the kitchen always crowded with people trying to use the internet.

A very nice little hostel on the outskirts of Boston. There's a pub as well which should make your stay that little bit more enjoyable (and a theater to boot). The free shuttle makes traveling between the station to the hostel no worries at all and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Abercrombie's Farrington Inn
- 23 Farrington Avenue, P.O. Box #364, Allston Station,, Boston
- 23 May 2012
It was more like a suite-style dorm. My room had 3 beds, not the 8-16 beds in a typical hostel. Not much of social interaction between people in different rooms, but most ppl are out and about during the day sightseeing anyways. It was clean, not super clean, but clean. Average ok
