The hostel is an absolutely gorgeous converted Victorian mansion sitting on a picturesque hill in Grasmere. The facilities are extensive and you can buy just about anything you need from the front desk. However, the prices are quite high for things like towel rental, laundry soap, etc. If More

The main hostel, gardens and location were excellent. However, self catering visitors were required to use a rather humid and not too fresh smelling kitchen and dining room in an annexe well away from the main building - I feel that self caterers are rather 2nd class citizens here. More

Water is too small for shower and sometimes water is too hot. There is not sufficient bathrooms to accommodate for 5 rooms. Waiting too long for the shower and toilet. Location is centered, near to the Windermere city centre and rail station. 15-20 mins walk to Windermere lake. More

Good place to stay. You never really see any staff, but they trust you enough to leave you to it! The bathrooms were really nice and kept very clean. The breakfast was ok, it did run out one morning though. Would definitely come back. More

I lived in a private room with a friend for two nights. The hostel is 10 minutes' walk from the bus station and 20 minutes' walk from the train station. The house was a bit old. The staff was really kind but not always available. More
