About London

There’s no getting around the fact that London is expensive, but it consistently holds the top spot as our most popular backpacker destination.
One of the main reasons is because there are so many cheap hostels that offer top-quality shared accommodation and private rooms.
The other is the unlimited supply of art, culture, history, food, drink, shopping and entertainment in London.

Hostels in London are some of the best in Europe. It has all the big names like Generator, Clink and Wombats. Regardless of where you stay in the city,
you’ll be close to a major tube line or railway station which gives you easy access to the city, rest of the country, and even Europe.

In fact, most of the best places to stay in London are close to main train stations, like King’s Cross, Paddington and Victoria.
You can also find plenty of youth hostels in Earl’s Court, Southwark and the South Bank. Any of these places will put you within easy reach of the main tourist attractions,
but if you want to stay somewhere outside of central London, click to view hostels on a map.

Depending on your budget, you can stay in one of the many cheap hostels in London, or spend a bit extra to get benefits like in-house bars,
free breakfast, communal kitchens and the other trimmings you would expect from a hostel.
Shared accommodation is the way to go if you want to save money and meet new people,
but most properties in the capital will have private rooms available as well.

There are too many tourist attractions in London to list to mention them all, but here’s a selection of the best. For classic landmarks,
head for the Tower of London, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. If you’d rather get a bird’s eye view of the city,
you can’t go wrong with The View from The Shard.

If you’re more into display of art and culture, then spend a day or two exploring the many free museums and art galleries dotted around London.
Once you’ve exhausted yourself with all the sights, remember that London is a foodie paradise. You can find amazing coffee shops all over the city,
and even if you’re on a budget, there are countless cheap restaurants to get excited about.

We’ve got a whole section dedicated to London on our blog if you needed any more ideas.
