Just didn't like the breakfast served. The panckages were dry and they burned the muffin. More

Nice rooms with enough space, great kitchen on a rooftop with places to sit down. Only negative: we got told it takes 90 minutes to the airport, so we planned ahead. But it fook around 5 minutes from hotel to train station, where the bus left for the airport and arrived in like 20 minutes More

This YHA is within three blocks of Southern Cross transit station, and right on the Free Tram Circle route---both advantages. As a senior citizen traveling alone, I appreciated that the staff seemed to put me into a dorm that had predominantly senior travelers in it. Younger travelers More

The owner could be a little less stressed out but is tolerable none the less. The atmosphere is great here, a small hostel where everyone gets to know each other since everyone has to stay at least a week. More

Best Hostel I've stayed in since I arrived in Australia, excellent facilities and cleanliness. Would definitely have extended my stay had it not been for the price. More

Think I made the wrong choice picking Base because I'm a grumpy old bugger but all the social interaction that's available in the bar/common areas seem to be really good for the more lively of people. The shower was pretty awful if I'm honest, not overly hot water and the water pressure More

Generally fine. But there is a weird sour smell in the room even I did ask to change one. Later guess because the flooring is Capet n that might absorb the smell over the years. Also the shower room rack are dirty n rusty. Maybe they just need a renovation More

Nice hostel overall. However I found it strange that I had to leave my bags either unattended or pay for lockers after checking out when they had a storage room. I bit cheap of them in my opinion. When I asked about the luggage storage the lady in the reception was rude about it too. More

Some of the staff were nice, some were really patronising and rude. It appeared clean until we looked closer. The kitchen only has a toaster and microwave so you can't cook anything decent. Building site behind so was woken up at 4:15am. Definitely not a place for backpackers. Local area More

Great place to stay if you're coming to Melbourne! The staff are awesome, the place itself is one of the cleanest hostels I've stayed at and I met a great group of people while I was here. The place itself is right by the free tram zone to the CBD, and its a short walk to Bruswick More

The kitchen was filthy and common areas not inviting. Guests are expected to make their own beds which was a hassle arriving late in a dorm room and the beds/linen did not look clean. I expected a bit more from the reviews but will not be staying here again. More
