all the rooms are not the same. Even at a higher price point the difference between the rooms shouldn't be so drastic. You can guess that my room was not one of the better ones. It felt like staying in a cave. I will not be staying here again.

Everything was fine about this hostel, good staff, facilities, rooms etc. Lots of social activities. But it's just a bit too big to have the same sort of friendly character that I love about smaller hostels.

The only issue was the air conditioning in the room. Room 412 - wasn't working very well, so got real hot and stuffy at night (especially when you've got 12 people sharing a room).

Good hostel, good value for the money, but only in New York City where everything costs an arm and a leg... My biggest complaint is one of the shared bathrooms in our hall had a sink the size of a salad bowl. I could barely wash my hands in it, never mind wash my face without spilling

I had a blast moment in NYC! The appartment was clean, people sharing was super coll, a really near to e erything (central park, times square, etc.). The staff was super cool, preparing everything before check-in...
My advice, don't hesitate and go to SWISS 1291 HOSTEL. Will be back soon

Its not an Hostel, you rent apartments...
I stay one week there and if i came back to NYC definitevly ill come back to these hostel. they have a very good staff!!!

the staff at the Harlem YMCA were sooo friendly. made you feel right at home the second you came through the door. lots of info if you arent from the area. swimming and gym are included in your nights stay BUT you need to wear a swimming cap. rooms were small but cozy and clean. bathrooms

The rooms are really small and there are not many showers (only 3 per floor), but that wasn`t a problem for us, we never had to wait for a shower. For the price you pay for a private room and for the good location it is really worth it.

Room cleanliness was allright.
But the bathroom were really disgusting, of all hostels I have ever been, this was the one with the worst bathrooms (toilets malfunctioning, bad smell, disgusting brown paper, dirty showers without door and hangers,...)
I was on the tenth floor.

If you're not fussy, and just want a bed for the night, this place has a great location and provides just that. However, we had a few problems with cleanliness, and the facilities in general there was only one functional shower for the whole floor - so sharing with quite a few people.
