La Controra Hostel Rome
- Via Umbria, 7, Rome
- 27 Jan 2012
Impeccably clean and neat, but the staff were apathetic and at times unfriendly, there were no social events or activities within the hostel, and there was very little to do, not even a deck of cards to be had. Plus, staying two floors down from the main part of the hostel meant I felt

This hostel is great. Not hard to find, quiet location where it is easy to get to all the main attractions. The breakfast was good and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Vibe very somber & quiet. Not a good place for people who want to go out, meet new people & enjoy the city. Location NOT close to public transit & we had to drag our luggage for a MILE just to get there based on directions provided by them. 4th person assigned to our room moved my things

Funny Palace Hostel
- Via Varese 33/31, Rome
- 1 Feb 2012
This is a budget hotel not a hostel! I was located in an apartment building on the 1st floor in a 3 bed room. I had 3 keys: 1 for the front door, 1 for the door to my floor and 1 to my room. There were 3 other rooms on my floor and we all shared one combined bathroom and toilet with no

we had nothing but great hospitality from Mabri who checked us in to the funny palace. As stated on their info page reception was in the inernet point/laundry which made it very easy to find. only less than 5 min walk from train station this made the location easily accessible. Mabri gave

Good location, close to main train station. Rooms are poor, not a cosy atmosphere, very basic look. Good point is AC in the room. In winter time in the evening not a good place to chill out outside, still 3,4 tratorias very close to the hostel. I was in this hostel last summer and

I signed up 6 of us to what I thought was a 6 mixed dorm room. But when we got there they told us they don't have 6 person rooms so they split us up. We were all on the same floor but it was not what we were expecting and would have preferred to have been told that. Luckily it all worked

The Yellow
- Via Palestro 44, Rome
- 3 Feb 2012
It was a great hostel with great staff... the only problem: it was about 5ºC in the bar... the rooms were warm enough, though.
It is located within 30 minutes walk from the Forum (or 2 metro stations) and 5 minutes from the main train station. Definitely recommended!

Ciak Hostel
- Viale Manzoni 55, Rome

Basic but satisfactory. Not much of a common area. Seemingly very thin walls, from the dorm you can hear everything including the plumbing. But pretty good breakfast, no major complaints, did the trick just fine.

Hostel is nice....we were there (2 persons) at the end of january 2012. The room with private bathroom was nice (in secret garden), clean, the cleaning lady used to come every day. The only problem was, that it was a bit cold in the room (we were in a period of very cold weather); but even
