If you are a foreigner, staying there should be a good choice, considered most staff speaks better English than the other hostels. Bathrooms are clean and bright, though there aren't any on the 4th floor where I stayed. Also they didn't check the bed carefully before giving me one, on

Unhelpful and rude staff. Although a cafe is available, lunch is only served between 12 and 1, no exceptions! Apparently this is because "lunch is at 12".
Wifi in the rooms are intermittent. So went down to the reception area before 7 to try and get connected. Also present was the guy

The location, a block away from Line 2 off the hoppin' East Nanjing Road, cannot be matched for convenience. The price is as good as it gets for Shanghai. Walls are a bit thin, but still slept soundly through the night. Room was very generously spacious and AC worked great.

Quite happy with our stay at Le Tour Traveler's Rest. We were in a private twin room, it was comfortable and clean. It was an internal room, but still had a window to let light in. The staff were few, but all plesant enough. The location was the best thing, just a short taxi ride from most

The Pheonix was just average. Not necessarily the cleanest hostel I've stayed at: the bathroom in my room had seen better days, and most of the ceilings were leaking while it rained. The confirmation email I received claimed towels were complimentary however when I asked for one, I was

Nice central location within walking distance of the Bund and close to Metro station.
Easy to find if you follow the hostel's directions.
Nice rooftop area for drinks and breakfast. Rooms quite small but very clean.
Only negative comment is that wifi often did not work.

Good location - walking distance to the Shanghai Museum & People's Square. Close to the metro as well. Staff were helpful for the most part, but not very friendly and it felt like they were annoyed when you would ask them a question. I liked that they served a good variety of food too. The

I found the hostel itself to be good, but the girls behind the counter were NOT in keeping with the "cool, bohemian, laid-back" description of the place. They were rude and disrespectful, and that was disappointing. However, the guy behind the counter when I checked out was very courteous
