I wanted to stay in my bed on the 6th floor because I was comfortable and the room was relatively empty except for one other guy from Australia. They made me move to another bed because I had made a different reservation for the following days. I asked to stay but they told me my 6th floor

William Penn House was just what I was looking for - a cheap, safe place to stay. I didn't spend much time there other than sleeping but as a base for exploring DC on a budget I definitely recommend it.

The hostel was extremely neat and clean. I liked that the rule was to leave shoes at the door -- helped with the cleanliness. The staff were very friendly and helpful, common areas were inviting and comfortable.
Drawbacks -- no shades on window and street lights shown in -- the staff

The staff was friendly and very helpful. The women's dorm room and bathroom were very clean and the bed was comfortable. The inn was just three blocks from the metro. Easy commute to the city sights and two blocks from streets loaded with interesting restaurants.

Had to wait eight hours after the time that I told them I would arrive until any staff showed up to check me in and assign me a bed. Not funny after so long travelling

The atmosphere in the hostel would be better if there wouldn't run all the time the TV in both guest areas (one TV-screen would be enough)

I would not recommend this hostel based on cleanliness. I have stayed in lots of hostels throughout the world and this is bar far the dirtiest place I have seen. We couldn't bring ourselves to stay and left to find a hotel elsewhere. There was hair and dirt all over the bed. The staff were

It was a strange but positive experience. First you need to remove your shoes in the entrance. The hostel is a big house located in a sketchy-looking small area close to Chinatown (bars, restaurants, theatres, bowling, etc.). The dormitory doors cannot be locked but still I felt the system

The Washington International Student Center is by far the best hostel to stay at in Washington DC. It has the best staff and is the ultimate home away from home! The living room is a great place to chat and meet fellow travelers. This is the 'cool' place to stay as it is relatively
