Let Hostelworld.com help ease your travel woes.

It is estimated that since the eruption of Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull Volcano started causing major disruption to travellers all around the world last Thursday that over 7 million people have been affected. We appreciate that many of these are Hostelworld.com customers, so if you have been affected please find some booking information below along with something to cheer up your travels at this time:

1) If you made a booking and bought cancellation protection and have had to cancel your booking then your deposit is then refunded to you via a credit in your account. You need to ensure that you have cancelled this booking through your account, so if you paid US$10 deposit on a booking in London yesterday but couldn't make it, that US$10 is credited to your account and you can use it towards a future booking. You just need to ensure that you rebook with the same email address next time you book.

2) If you made a booking, and had to cancel it because of the volcano ash but didn't buy cancellation protection, please contact us as we are looking at all queries on a case by case basis. As disruption to air travel looks set to continue in the rest of the week, if you are planning on making a booking for a stay within the next seven days we strongly recommend you buy cancellation protection with your booking to ensure your deposit is safe.

Hopefully the above will answer any queries you have. If it hasn't, you can contact our customer service team who will be happy assist you.
