The most influential factor when booking a hostel is rating, according to a recent poll. The poll, which was taken over on our facebook page (make sure you're logged in to see the poll), showed that 39% of people answered 'Rating' when asked 'What is most important to you when booking a hostel?' This was followed by 'Price' and 'Location' in joint second place with 27%.
The poll shows that more and more people look at a hostel's rating before price, making sure that the property they are considering booking provides a good service to its customers. It also shows that budget travellers see a hostel's location as equally important as how much a bed costs for the night.
These three factors - rating, price and location - dominated the poll's findings. Trailing behind them were 'Free stuff (breakfast/WiFi etc)' with 3%, 'Reviews' with 2% and 'Cleanliness' and 'Atmosphere' both with 1%.
