Hello!

I´m a MBA student and I´m currently working on a paper about hostels in the World.

Gracie,
London is a big beautiful and interesting city. It can also be dangerous place. Pick your hostels carefully and base it on the rating given by other visitors. Have fun. I now live in London

I have been to Paris a couple of times. Do not miss the Savaldor Dali museum in the Montmantre Dist. It's hard to find, but totally worth the time. Also, be sure to hit the Latin district for some wonderful live music and great food. As for the other cities, I was only in Bussels for a short time and am not the best person for that one. I'll be in London in July, so I suppose I can give you more after that trip.

Have fun!

Yeah, no problem.

Australia is virtually the size of USA mainland but with only 20 million people. Must see: Ayres Rock, Whitsundays, Cairns, Kakadu National Park, Fraser Island, & Sydney. Allow 2 months or so.

New Zealand is much smaller but still very good. Must see: Queenstown, Nelson, Milford Sound, & Franz Josef Glacier. Allow 4 weeks or so.

I've been to most of these places. Search these place for starters.

London is very expensive - no question about that !!! Museums are free - Imperial War Museum has alot about WW1 + WW2. Pubs provide reasonable meals cheaper than restaurants.

Paris - go to top of Eiffel Tower (late afternoon provides a sunset as well). Buy a pack of 10 metro tickets for 11 euros to save some money. Take a day-trip to Verseilles which is loacted 1 1/2 hours outside Paris.

Brussels isn't much. Spent 1-2 days there. Brugge is heaps better (located 1 hour west from Brussels).

Hi Gracie,

You will love Bruges!Don't forget to walk along the small canals and the little streets.Hey if you have some days left in Belgium do not forget to visit Antwerp. Bruges and Brussels are nice...but still Antwerp is GREAT :) Totaly different city, other vibes, very young and the best shopping area on the continent! You'll shop till you drop:)

Hi Gracie,

there just popped another idea in my mind.
You deffentaly should pay a visit to cafe Greenwich (in the 2nd street at your right when you face the Beurs) It is THE place to be when you want to spot locals!Old men come to play chess here.It is something i realy can recomand.Plus they have good beer :) (hum we are a pub/beerminded community...you'll soon find out :))
Also the music museum is worth a visit. The building is in beautiful Art Deco and you should take the elevator to the top floor...you'll have a great view over Brussels.

Hi Gracie!

a car chamois is a little towel that soaks up a TON of water and is really small and portable. It dries over a couple hours. you can purcahse is at any 7-11 or car detailing/auto parts store. you don't need to wash it, just use it right out of the box and let it hang dry after you're done using it. it's so much more of a space saver than a big towel...plus, you'll drip dry wherever you are anyway! happy travels!

Oh by the way,

If you find out to be a Brussels-hater and you want to make your trip useful..take a train(50min) in direction of Antwerp (Belgiums 2nd city and my hometown) or take a train in the other direction to Brugges (90min).A Medieval village that looks a bit like Venice.

And now I 'll shut up :)

Hi Holley,

I used to live in Brussels for 1.5year.And it is a city you'll love or hate. Some spots are realy trashy (like the citys mainstreet - Nieuwstraat is to be avoid)But the jardin Botanique or the Zavel are beautiful. You should also go to the Marollen (it is a former workersquarter where they hold fleemarkets on every Sunday)Other things you should see in Brussels center is the Grote Markt (it is touristic but there is a reason for). Also don't foget to have a drink at the Cirio's (next to the Beurs)..order a 'half en half'.It is a grand-café in art nouveau style. For an autentic Jazz-experience go to 'L'archiduc' in the Dansaerstraat'.For a good Belgian beer, go to Monk..it is close to the Dansaerstraat. These 3 pubs aren't touristic at all...so you'll be surrounded by locals.
A good club (they usualy ply 'trance') is Fusion => in the Marollen.
Something I deffenatly can recommand is going to Tervuren. It is a very exclusive Brussels suburb(trams a driving to it..and the tramride is a nice experience itself)Tervuren used to be a Royal domain and still you can make walks in the park or just lay in the sun. There is a very important museum of African art and there are nice restaurants in the center.
By the way...tramrides are always a nice and cheap way to experience a city. You will see local life and you'll see quarters not discrebed in a travelguide.
If you need more info, just let me know.
Cao,

Robin

Hi there, yeah sure, we can exchange experiences. If you haven't yet been to London, I can only tell you that it is HUGE! I would plan on spening more time in London than in Paris, which is relatively small in comparison. I would also recommend that you consider purchasing a London Card which can be used for reduced/free entry to tons of venues. The city tours are really interesting, especially the City of London tour, which covers a lot of London history. Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square are a must. Also, you might want to visit an outdoor market on a Saturday. The London Underground has a comprehensive network and where it might fall short, you can take a bus. If you're flying into Heathrow, then take the Picadilly Line. You can buy a public transport pass after you decide how many zones you'll need. Yeah, that must be tough with the poor exchange rate, but it's just a fact of life. Consider cooking in the hostel kitchen. Indian takeaway is relatively cheap.

Good luck!
