Hi!!
Sorry just for answering now, but work has been hell!!
The best advice i can give is if you are with friends is to rent a car and drive through the countryside!!
Another alternative is doing the tours that are usually avaliable in the hostels. That way, you''ll get another perspective on history and costumes that only the local people have.
Some places: Dublin, Bend of the Boyne,Cork, Blarney Castle, Killarney, The ring of Kerry, Galway, the cliffs of Moher and the burren,Giant's causeway and Antrim coast, etc...
There is a lot to see, basically in the countryside, the cities itself aren't that interesting!! Go out to the pubs and ear some irish music (if you ear too much it will sound the same repertoire), altough it is a great experience.
If you have other questions, don't hesitate in asking!!!

Lisdoonvarna was nice and a good place to stay to see the Cliffs or Mohr and the Burren but make sure you have cash. Lisdoonvarna has no automatic telling machines (atm), no Banks and the Shops and Bars don't take a credit card!! I got stuck there with no money and had to borrow enough for a bus ride to the Cliffs or Mohr gift shop which is where the nearest atm was.

Hi Iveta.

I agree with you preferring nature to cities.

I've been told by friends of mine who are Irish that some of the best scenery is found along the coasts of Cork and Galway. Unfortunately the public transport won't get you to the really nice areas so you'll need to drive or hitch to get out there. Hitching in Ireland is supposed to be safe and pretty easy, I met a few people who were hitching out there and found it better than expected.
I had a bad knee injury when I visited Ireland so couldn't carry my rucksack far so could not hitch or drive. I still managed to find some nice places though using public transport and had a great time.

I'm afraid I'm not really being very helpful.

Of the places I visited I really like Strandhill in Sligo. If you go there you MUST have a seaweed bath they're amazing!

Also in September they have the match making festival in Lisdoonvarna (look it up on google) and I missed it but it sounds great fun.

Tramor a beach resort on the south coast of Waterford was an absolute scream. Great countryside and amazing cliff walks and you can hire bikes and ride over to Dunmore East which was again a really nice place. I particularly recommend the Waterfront bar which plays life music everynight during the summer and the people in the pub are Irish on their holidays so it makes for a great night.

Here's a link to some photos of the places I visited. http://www.flickr.com/photos/amawildson/collections/72157603679694883/

Sorry for the long message I got carried away. Currently in Mazatlan Mexico having a great time! Hope your trip goes well and let me know if I can help further.

Yep, Barcelona and Valencia are good options, but in Summer they are a little bit overcroweded, so try Northern Spain, places like Bilbao or Asturias could be very nice. However, do not expect that much party over there.

Hola!
