Hi!

Places to visit in Latvia: Riga, Jurmala, Cesis, Sigulda, Kuldiga, Talsi...Eastern part (Latgale) also is very nice...as people in Latvia are friendly you can check www.couchsurfing.com for accomodations.
Have never stayed in hotels/hostels here, that`s why have no advice, but from others have heard that Argonauts in Riga is good place to stay
If you want me to show you around Riga feel free to contact me

Regards,
Liga

Hi,
sorry, but I don't know nothing about the hostels in Riga, because i never needed to use them. I think that you need to see Old Riga and occupation museum. I think that this site will help you http://www.riga.lv/EN/Channels/About_Riga/History_of_Riga/default.htm

Hey,
I see you have already lots of information and i add more :)about Estonia.
At first i suggest going to Pärnu. It´s the best place in Estonia to be in summertime. Quite small city with beautiful seaside and parks. Then you should also visit whether Taevaskoja or Piusa caves in Sourhern Estonia. Piusa caves would be more interesting i think. Or you can visit both:)
Then as you have quite lot time i think you should visit one of the islands of Estonia. Saaremaa and Hiiumaa are most biggest of them. Saaremaa is known for it´s windmills, junipers and place called Sõrve säär - long and narrow way to the sea.
Then i should also suggest visiting our capital Tallinn and it´s old town.
Last summer i visited Toolse Stronghold(Toolse linnus) in Northen Estonia - very beautiful and interesting place. This is a place where i would definitely go. You can also find ruins of stronghold from Viljandi and in Rakvere and other places.
One important part of Estonia is our bogs. A trip in one of them would be a good idea. Maby then Viru bog.
About hostels i don´t know.I only once stayed in Rähni Questhouse in Pärnu (i didn´t have to pay). Baby you would like sth cheaper. I think it would be a good idea to ask about hostels from tourists who have visited these places.
If sth important comes to my mind, i will add.
Have a nice time in Estonia:D
All the best,
Nele

Hi, I saw your message regarding Estonia. You can check out the following links: http://www.tourism.tallinn.ee/eng; http://www.tourism.ee/en/; there are plenty of interesting places: from Tallinn and its surroundings to Pärnu - our summer capital to Tartu - the university city to Narva from where you can see Russia :) I also suggest to consider visiting islands like Saaremaa, Naissaar etc.I hope you will have a good time in Estonia. If you have more questions, i'll be glad to help you. Greetings, Jelena

Hello, and greetings from Helsinki. Stadion hostel should be the cheapest (< 17 eurs/night) see http://www.stadionhostel.fi/
if traveling with several (4) friends, see http://www.omena.com/ (2 hotels in helsinki, no reception and the price (less than 80 eurs) is per room, not person. everything in helsinki is near, since there is walking distance to almost everywhere. hope you enjoy your stay!

Hey João!
Nice to hear that you're coming over to Finland! I hope the spring will be warm this year so that you enjoy your stay. A nice place to visit is the Senate Square with its beautiful white cathedral. Suomenlinna, a maritime fortress just outside Helsinki, is also well worth a visit. You get there by boat from Kauppatori, a nice market place near the Senate Square. If you're interested in history, I recommend the National museum. The building is quite beautiful from outside, even if you don't decide to go in. But I guess this is the kind of info you'll find in any guide book. For coffee/tea I recommend café Engel by the Senate Square or Fazer café on Kluuvikatu. Nice inexpensive restaurants are Virgin Oil and La Famiglia. Good night clubs: Lux and Apollo. Don't miss Stockmann if you're going shopping! Kaivopuisto is a beautiful park to stroll around in, and if the weather is good I recommend a walk by the water in southern Helsinki. Have fun!

Hi João!
There are few great, inexpensive hostels in Helsinki. I think Hostel Stadion is pretty good, at least I've heard some compliments. And I've heard that this place called Omenahotelli is really good too.
The best places in Helsinki are all in the city centre. The Church and the old town houses. You just have walk and look around :)

Hi,
I'm sorry I can't help you with hostels in Riga and Latvia but the places you should visit are Sigulda, Jurmala, Old Riga and the architecture of Riga (especially Albert's street), also Ventspils, Kuldiga and Liepaja, Edole's castle, Birinu castle, Turaida... Actually there are a lot of places I could advise, but it depends on what you want to see in Latvia! :)

Hi, Joao! Besides Riga you can go to Ventspils (plain ticket ~15euro), on May 24 there will be Knights' festival in the medieval castle (see: www.ventspilsmuzejs.lv). If you like to travel in time go to Liepaja (also by plain, bus - 3-4 hours from Riga) to jail of Karosta (see: ww.karostascietums.lv). Have questions, write ingrida.g@apollo.lv

Hi, Joao!
Can't help you wit hostels, because didn't stay there. You have to see our Old Town, it is very beautiful, many young people and pretty girls, pubs, reataurants and discos. I advise you to visit Sigulda also! Get a train to Sigulda (it costs about 2 euro one way) and visit medieval castle, breeze fresh air, see beautiful Latvan nature.

hey Joao,
i guess that in Lithuania You should see Vilnius (the capital of Lithuania)and Curonian Spit (Kuršių Nerija - sand-dune spit that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea). These are really wonderful places to see. Also i would recomend You to visit Trakai. It is a small town near Vilnius. There lives the odest society of Crimean Karaites. You should taste the tradicional dishes of these people. Wish you to have a good time in Lithuania.

Hi!

I don't have much info on how good they are. If you are coming to Tallinn, then I can suggest You the neighbourhoods You should tr - best is old town, I know there are some hostels. Unfortunately no info on quality. In tallin the best places to see 1. old town - it's also in Unesco heritage and quit pretty. 2. KUMU - if you are interested in art, You shoukld visit our newly built national art musem, it's located near to centre and is close to our president's palace also, in Tallinn's biggest park Kadriorg. In city center You can find quite a few shopping malls, ih that's what You're interested in. In old town there are many night clubs and butiques also. Near old town there is a lovely neigbourhood called kalamaja, it's a bit bohemian, old wooden houses and art peaple living there. It's just lovely to wlak around, nothing much to do. We also have a zoo and an open-air museum where one can get a hint of how estonians used to live a few hundred years ago. It's quite OK also. Some SPAs in city centre also and water amusement in them aswell.

I suggest to get out of Tallinn for it's our lovely landscape and quite untoched nature everybody loves a lot. On Northern coast You can find cliff coast, which is quite impressive, in Southern estnoia we have lvely little hills and lakes. In south, there ise Tartu, our most important university town, which is quite lovely also. Best resorts are Pärnu and Haapsalu on west coast - Pärnu more for fun.oriented people and Haapsalu more for lazy bohemian or romantic traveller.

Hope this helps a bit.

rgrds,
Kristi

PS. Tallinn is almost all over covered by free wifi, so bring Your laptop, if You have one. Can chat to friends in any given coffee

Hello
Advices very much depends on your traveling type and time, few places are worthy to visit. With hotels we have hard- not much and very expensive, as we have no that hostel system as in west europe. But depending on the place can be find something affordable. Pls. contact me by email or mans, because i see that all messages here are for public to read:
