Hello Ellie,
Yes thats good place to stay. I was even surprised that was so safe and the doors are electronicly closed. Clean tower every day . Nice staff and in the city centre thats the best place to saty in Edinburgh .

hey! i hope you had an amazing time in Italy. Spain is one of my favorite countries! the people are so nice and welcoming, the food is incredible, and the nightlife is like nothing you've ever seen. everyone there is so laid back, but they also have this passion for life that i love. if you go you should definitely visit Madrid, but if you want to see a really beautiful small city go to Salamanca. the cathedral there is a must-see and everyone goes out at night during the summer.

best of luck on your future travels. stay in touch!

hi Ellie! i went to Italy 3 summers ago and loved it. if you are in Tuscany don't miss Cinque Terre! it was arguably the single most beautiful place i visited in Italy. hike through the 5 villages in the cliffs on the coast, and only take the train if absolutely necessary. have fun!

Hey,
Thanks for accepting. Actually I love backpacking and the idea of expecting unexpected, but unfortunately haven't had to do it yet.... Some day I'll make it... Hopefully before getting too old!

hi, definately have some tips! main one being please please do a pub crawl at night! the Homers pub crawl is pretty good, i did it twice the last time i was in Rome and its so much fun, usually the hostels have one organised or they link you up with people who run these crawls...its not too expensive either..

Another of my tips - Colloseum and Palantine Hill attractions can be visited with the same 10euro ticket! dont do what i did and buy a seperate ticket for each attraction when u can go to both attractions (i think they have to be in the same day) with the same ticket! My suggestion, buy your ticket in the morning at Palantine Hill (the line is generally much shorter here than the colloseum) then go to the Colloseum during the same afternoon...this should work well...

Oh, Piazza Novana (spelling?) is immaculate! i tend to look at my map and plan a walking route which goes to as many piazzas i can see and along the way you get to see so much more of life and people than if u catch a bus/tram/cab to a place...walking is the best way to do it in rome. Ive been there around 5 times and walked on my own at all times of the day/night and never had a problem, people have said thugh that there is a bit of pickpocketting happening, but i think you just need to be careful like you are anywhere and you'll be a-ok

GELATO - eat this everyday cos im telling you, if you have a sweet tooth you will really miss the gelato in Rome!! Nutella gelato - yum!

If you have an extra day i suggest going to Pompeii which is only 2 hrs away from rome. trains are very frequent and u just get off at Naples and catch the civitevecchia (spelling?) sortof like the metro from Naples to Pompeii and spend the whole day there, its such an amazing feeling walking the streets of old Pompeii and looking up at mt vesuvius...i really suggest this day trip.

I read up on this monestary or some old building which has human bones and skulls on the altar and hanging from the ceiling, ive forgotten what its called but Ill be going to rome this august and im planning on asking around and finding this place! sounds interesting if u ask me....

Oh, Vatican City, i would climb the tower in the Cathedral, I missed out on it but i have freinds who did it and said its amazing, so i would love to do that if i can one day...

So, if i think of anything else i will drop by and jot it down...when are you going?

Cheers,
Jazz

Hi Ellie, thanks for writing me. I plan to begin my Central America trip in Guatemala and fly from San Jose to Miami and then back to Europe. That sounds great, I could use some advice on traveling in the region. Did you speak Spanish there? How about security matters? Please write back when you have time, but there's no rush, as I'm not traveling until September. Cheers, Darryl
