Quite welcome... and after the UK, Amsterdam will be reasonable enough anyway.:) There are many food and shopping and drinking options in Amsterdam. Again, I advise getting out of the central hub for better bargains (I bought luggage near the Dam area, for example, and found similar for half the price just a mile and a half away.) Regardless, you'll have a great time in Amsterdam! Keep us posted!

You'll find yourself surrounded by opportunities. Since I don't know your tastes, it's kinda hard to recommend specifics, but I'd say that you'll want to go BEYOND the local area... Just start walking in a direction, and you'll soon find that you're out of touristville, that prices are much lower, and people are still warm and friendly. Everyone speaks english in Amsterdam... and the folks at Durty Nelly's will be golden (even if they're Irish!) :) Cheers!
