Hello, you messaged me regarding Egypt.
I traveled with a group of five, including one female. I definitely don't think that she would of dealt with being there by herself very well. The men acted very oddly towards her and they all gawked (because of the absence of the headscarf). If you're very headstrong and don't do anything stupid, you should be fine, but I would advise against it.
To be honest, I really disliked Egypt. The people seemed to have a pretty strong distaste towards white people that they masked in order to exploit us for money. I am generally a VERY culturally sensitive person, but I strongly disliked the people (there were a few very nice people, but outside of that they were all crass).
However, the sights were AMAZING. Seeing the Pyramids, Valley of the Kings/Queens, Abu Simbel and such was worth it. They were truly awe-inspiring.
If you go, go for at least 6 days, stay at the Hostel I stayed at and have Mohammed plan your entire trip there. He may take a commission, but it is definitely worth it. Traversing the train system without people on each side to pick you up would be really, really hard.
I know this is pretty cursory, if you have any other questions, just message me. Or, if you'd like, you can message me on AIM (lippy1111) or MSN (dmlippert@gmail.com), I'm on quite often.
Hope this helps.
