Praga é fantástica ... os dois albergues que fiquei eram ótimos, o único problema era a distância! Agora eu estou no Canada ... retornei para ficar um tempo maior! Venha visitar Montreal, demais! Hi! Thanks for your note. That is the same trip I am going to do! Zagreb-Plitvice-Zadar-Split-Islands-Dubrovnik. I was thinking 10 days. Did you stay with the old ladies? How was it?

I think that paying ferry and room in split is more expensive and inconvenient then renting a room on the islands. So hostel on the island is better option. I am not saying it is completely legal but, maybe you can buy a small tent and use it on the islands. Then you dont have to be scheduled for hostels, or pay neither for the ferry or hostel. Croatia is unlike Brasil, very safe country. You just find some lonely spot on the island, put a tent and in the morning put it away. You can buy it in Zagreb for small amount of money.

There are two options I can recommend:
1) tel. +385 (0) 98 647 443, +385 (0) 20 422 840 - Andrija Glavinic is the guy we stayed with. He is nice and inexpensive. Allthough I am not sure that prices would stay the same If you are foreigner. So if you call him, tel him that you have an Croatian friends Nina&Davor who recommended him because of good prices. It is not in the middle of the city, but not so bad.
2) seccond option is just to go there and you will see many places with signs "rooms" and "zimmer frei" and just negotiate your stay on the spot.

Renting ahead with the usual way is usually expensive and also you could book something which is not close to old city. One very important thing: having a car in Duborvnik can be very messy and expensive! There are huge praking and space problems, so it is very difficult and expensive to leave a car. I am not sure about your itenerary but maybe you can return the car in Dubrovnik or leave it somwhere outside the city and use public transportation. IT is not so bad, although not very cheap. If you call Andrija or anybody else, ask him for a parking spot.

Maybe this way I can help: Pula and Dubrovnik are on the opposite sides of the Adriatic Coast. Visiting the both is very time and effort consuming. Of course that Pula is great and beautiful, but I think that most people would pick Dubrovnik first (which is also more expensive). Maybe one day when you will go to Italy and around, you can pay a visit to Pula.

Hi, best advice would be to read as much as possible about your possible destinations and then choose something up to your preferences. Pula is also great city with even more to see than Rovinj. But with that numbers of days, my personal opinion/recommendation is to skip north Adriatic - Istria. After Zagreb (continental) go to Plitvice national park (continental) and then from middle to the south Adriatic coast and finish with Dubrovnik.
Trip from Split to Hvar with ferry lasts around 2hours. But if you don't have a car there are some faster ships. Closest Island is Brac, then Hvar and then Vis. Ask for the islands you are interested I can check it out. And if you need anything else :)

Hi,

when you're leaving Zagreb, stop at national park Lake Plitvice,it' s about hour and a half drive. Also on your way to Plitvice there is a small vilage with lots of waterfalls Rastoke near the city Slunj. Places to worth visit on the coast are Zadar (on your way to Zadar there is a national park Paklenica), Šibenik, Split; Hvar and Korčula are beautiful islands; (for younger people Hvar is a much better option). On the peninsula Pelješac you can visit small city Ston. Near Dubrovnik you can visit Cavtat.

hope this helps :) bye....

Hi from Zagreb!
Regarding rent-a-car I can recommend Budget Rent-a-car, I had good experience with them. On this link http://www.budget.hr/Rent-A-Car/Prices.aspx you can see the prices and choose the best car for you and your friends, and check their branch offices.
If you need a hostel in Zagreb, I can recommend Buzz hostel http://www.buzzhostel.com/ . If you have any more questions just ask :)
Wish you a great time in Zagreb and Croatia! :)
