About me

Well, I'm a very amature photographer from a great little green northwest washington city called Bellingham. My inspiration comes from all over the place. I lived in Italy for 3 months with a beautiful girl who brightens up my world every day. Because of where i was located near Padova, I got to go to Venice about 5 times, saw the northern half of Italy, and got to visit Switzerland, Sweden and France. On my last trip, I went through Ireland, England, Malta, Italy, Israel and Palestine.

My Travel Tip

RYANAIR!!! That airline saved me hundreds on my last trip and I have nothing but good things to say about it. And stock up on booze in duty free shops.

Hi! The legal age for drinking alcohol in Sweden is 18 years, but to buy alcohol in stores, you have to be 20. An odd law, but that's the way we do it! :P

Hi again! There are two ferry companies that go from Helsinki to Stockholm and back. You might want to visit www.vikingline.fi and www.tallinksilja.com. Vikingline is usually a little bit cheaper. I think you should consider going to Stockholm by plain. Visit for example www.blue1.fi

Hey!
Welcome to Helsinki on February! If you're visiting Helsinki on winter time I think Feb. is a good month to come here. If you're lucky we got lots of snow and -10 to 20 C, if you're not so lucky we got snow slush everywhere and +5 C. Lets hope for the first one! :)

When you come to Helsinki I recommed that you visit at least Suomenlinna Sea Fortress. It's a Island just out side of Helsinki. Ferry takes you there and it takes only 15 minutes. In 1991 Suomenlinna included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Also Seurasaari open-air museum if worth to visit. If you're in to modern art, Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma is interestig. Temppeliaukio Church (or Rock church as many people say) might be worth of visiting. It's a modern church carved from rock and has a stunning copper dome.

I'll send you a trip advisors link http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g189934-Activities-Helsinki_Southern_Finland.html because they've listed many good places where to go.
If you got time you can also visit a nice small city called Porvoo. It's about 60 km out side of Helsinki. Or maybe you want to do a day trip to Tallinn, Estonia? There are several ferries going there every day.

Hi Patternart,

thanks for your answer: I've accepted your request to be my travel buddy, obviously.

I know it's anti-italian never to have been to Venice or Roma, I know...I'm quite ashamed of myself actually!
I'm now planning a trip to Florence and Pisa, but after that, the next step should be Roma, and then Venice...

all depends on how much money I can save in the meantime, of course!

A presto,
Natalia

Hi patternart,

my name is Natalia, and I'm writing to you because your profile and the photos in your blog made me smile...and the things you wrote about yourself and your girlfriend sound really nice!

can I ask you what you mean when you write that you're a very "amature" photographer?

ciao ciao natalia

am...i wouldn't recommend it! It'll probably be cold and wet and it's a long way...Plus there are much nicer areas to visit in Ireland than that route. Would definitely recommend Galway, Cork, Kerry and Clare. Let me know if you need any info

I was only in London...it was expensive but i managed to have a great time and not go too broke by staying at the St. Christopher's hostel and eating out of the supermarket. London is a great city...you definetely don't want to miss it...
