Hey there. Just noticed your profile. Definitely head to Cambodia if you have the time (try taking the boat between Siam Reap and Battambang). Some of the road are bumpy (but fun), the people are really friendly and the history is so interesting(albiet sad). Try one of the dishes called 'Amok'...really good. When staying in Phnom Penh, get a guesthouse on the lake...you'll see some amazing sunsets and its a great place to unwind with a beer (and a joint..if you're into the occasion puff). Definitely one of my fav's. Where are you from in the South Island? Im from just south of Timaru (not gonna say where though). See ya.

definitely go backpacking solo!! i went to italy this summer and it was great. i recommend you learn some simple phrases in italian before you go - some people don't speak a lick of english there.

I actually stayed with my girlfriend who lives outside of Venice about 1 hour by train, so in the 3 months that I stayed with her, I got to go to venice about 5 times. I know this is gonna sound cliche, but try not to go during the summer. You've seen how many tourists there are in the summer, well this is a tiny group of islands that is known as one of the #1 places to visit in Italy, so it's just wall to wall Americans, Brits and Germans.

I think 3 weeks should do it, but to see more of Europe you'll need more time. Even though I haven't gotten to go there yet, I hear that Cinqe Terra is amazing and beautiful.

I was considering visiting NZ, but from what I've heard there's mostly alot of drinking, smoking weed and hot girls, which would be fine except that I might get myself in a bit of trouble without my girlfriend there.

I have visited NZ for two weeks, a fine country. The lamb is delicious as are most of the people. Kiwi's are good. Italy is nice to visit, Rome is expensive as is Venice. A good cultural experience

I want to be a Kiwi ;o) but I'm only a half Philippina and Swiss! I'm finish the coming summer with my apprenticeship. Afterwards I'll go perhaps to new zealand. Next year you go to Italy? Why don't you make a stop in Switzerland? I can show you a little bit from here ;o)! When you now where, are Switzerland not expensive :o).

Italy is one of the dirtiest I've seen in Europe, but I do have two words for you..."Cinque Terre". check out the place!

I don't know how dangerous men are in Italy, but I do know and I still remember the time when an old man passing by tried touching my u-know-what.
