Yes we have been to Egypt in 2005. My husband and I went on an Intrepid Travel trip with 10 others. We visited Cairo, Aswan, Luxor, Hurgharda, the Gulf of the Red Sea (Sawa Camp), St Katherines, Sinai, Abu Simbel - probably the most popular places but we mixed with the locals instead of just being a 'tourist'. It was awesome to do it that way.
I will admit it was a culture shock to start with, but once the 14 days were over, we learnt so much about ourselves and other people that it turned out to be the most educational trip we were ever going to do. It made us understand other cultures. We'd love to do it again knowing what we know now, if you know what I mean.
To think all we ever thought Egypt stood for was the pyramids - boy were we wrong!!
