About me

I'm 21 and I just finished undergrad. Before going off to grad school in the fall, my friend and I are planning on backpacking in Europe for 2.5 weeks (July 26-Aug 15). The itenarary so far is: Paris => Amsterdam => Stuttgart (Germany) => Milan => Florence => Rome => Some place near the Mediterranean Sea with a nice beach. Give me a shout if you have similar plans!

cool we can definately meet in amsterdam, for that part of my trip I´m with a friend too. I´m staying at hans brickter budget hotel. here´s my email, I check it more often than this site. typrouty@hotmail.com. I´ve been travelling since the 14 June, but on the 23 I started a summer school program in Kassel Germany. My last day is tomorrow so I´m backpacking again soon. most of the trip I´m alone but I made a friend here that I´m meeting up with here and there. I haven´t been to amsterdam so I don´t know where or when to meet but we can just arbitralily pick something too.

yeah from rome you take a train to naples, then from there you take a metro to sorrento. to find the metro leave the platforms and go left and there´s a hallway to the ticket office. be ready for a long ride, I think it´s over a half hour (an hour?) in some pretty intense heat. but from sorrento you can get to capri and pompei. I´ll be in amsterdam July 31-august 3 or 4. then paris on august 13 - 28. off course nothings set in stone though. maybe we could meet somewhere but I think it looks like we´ll be just missing each other. so I figure we´ll have to warn each other of dive hostels and other tips. yeah, I live in Edmonton, where are you from.

oh, and if you want to go further south in italy I can recomend about the best deal of the century. Go to Sorrento and there´s a hostel called Ulysse. It´s going to be a hotel charging a couple hundred a night but is waiting on licensing or something so I stayed for 18 euro a night (gotta pay for air conditioning) http://www.wotif.com/hotel/View?hotel=49668 that´s not the official site, I can´´t find it. My local friend had actually done all the booking for me. that site doesn´t list the price I paid so maybe calling the hostel directly would be better
