Hi Trina! I hope You enjoy your Europe visit. Do you plan to visit Middle Europe? I live in Bratislava, only 60 km from Vienna! Cheap and nice old centre. Try to arrange Your travel plan. I was in the US and have a very good memoirs. I will by happy to meet with You.

Good way to network while hosteling is check out Couchsurfing.com. You can join just to contact groups willing to talk and welcome people who visit their city. Other options are to volunteer or work for lodging(cash pay or inkind) while traveling.

COLM, thank u for the note, being #1 FRIEND here. Interesting you are well traveled in China, cos that is also a passion of mine. Since I spent half of my life in Los Angeles, I am ready to go back to my Chinese roots and live out in the countryside whenever possible.
