Airlie Beach Pocket Guide

Images Of Airlie Beach

As a launch pad to the stunning Whitsunday Islands and Great Barrier Reef, Airlie Beach attracts the bulk of travellers exploring the east coast of Australia, which has led to it becoming much more than just a stopover town. Its main thoroughfare is Shute Harbour Road, and here you'll find everything that this small town has to offer. You'll also encounter countless tour companies dealing in wild adventures at sea during the day include sailing, snorkeling, scuba-diving, kayaking and speed boating, while on dry land an equally wild nightlife awaits you. But the main attractions here are the breathtaking Whitsunday Islands. You can choose from a host of multi-day cruises which bring you all around this UNESCO World Heritage site and also to jewel in the crown, Whitehaven Beach. Explore this region and you'll leave thinking you've just seen paradise. You won't be far wrong.

    Friendly people & fun times

the staff & people i met on my trip were very friendly - its a shame about the roadworks, but Im sure once they have finished the place would be even more beautiful.

Insider Tip:dont let the road works let the experience of the place get you down

    Nice, chilled out holiday town.

Great place to hang out before heading to whitsunday tours. Not an awful lot to do but chilling by the lagoon in the sun is enough for me! Night life in peak season is awesome! A good choice of shops for a small town

    Airlie Beach

When we went to Airlie Beach the road was being dug up and roadworks were in progress. In honesty it ruined it a little bit but you can see that the town is becoming more popular and there is development everywhere. A definite place for backpackers with lots of bars and restaurants with big nights out. during the day there is a man made lagoon which is good for sunbathing.

Insider Tip:Definitely book a boat trip around the Whitsunday Islands and make sure you get one that visits Whitehaven Beach. This is just breathtaking and there are plenty of places where you can book last minute boat trips along the main road.

    The party town gateway

A lively party town that is the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. Not a great deal to see though unless you are heading out in to the Islands (which are amazing!)

Insider Tip:The meal and a beer for $13 at Beaches (next to Nomads)
