Images Of Auckland

Enjoying a spectacular location between Waitemata and Manukau Harbours, and surrounded by and built on fifty extinct volcanoes, Auckland is New Zealand's largest city and the gateway to the country's North Island. It boasts a neat and compact city centre which doesn't require too much leg-stretching when checking out its sights, restaurants and bars. It is also home to some of the country's most cosmopolitan neighbourhoods. In light of all this, it never forgets its history as it is rich in culture and home to the world's largest Polynesian population.

    Much to see and do!

We had so much fun in Auckland and loved every moment. The city is easy to walk though and the ferry operates regularly and is also easy to book. Relaxing city to visit and so much to see if you have time to go around a bit more.

Insider Tip:Visit the Auckland zoo, it is very beautiful and you might see some kiwi birds too. Ride the ferries as much as you can and visit the islands. If you take the buss, remember to check where your stop is because the drivers don't always remember to stop even if you ask them to stop at some specific buss stop. There's no electronic signs inside the busses to tell you what stop is coming next so make sure you know where you are going. If you want to cook your own food, go to new world store to get the food.

    2days in Auckland

Weather is very indecisive, be prepared! Was there beginning of March. Took ferry to Devonport, Marine museum was interesting.

Insider Tip:Burger Fuel is great! But the mall on Queen/ custom st has lots of cheap food options.

This is a major transit centre for moving international tourists in and out of NZ, so you would think it would be a happening, thriving centre. Plus it has the highest populas in NZ. Go up the Skytower and to the museum, then go to your next destination. Or if you have more than 2 days in Auckland go to the islands just north if the city-v beautiful.

Insider Tip:You don't really need more than a few days here. Take the airport express bus to get you to and from the airport (the big blue one) as it only charges $16 each way, not the pricey airport shuttle which charged $35.

    Auckland 2014

Auckland is a great gateway to New Zealand's North Island. Plenty of attractions for all ages, from world class museums to fine dining experiences. Weather is great in the summer and it's the perfect place to acclimatise to NZ and plan your trips. It's the biggest city and most metropolitan area in the country so isn't reflective of NZ as a whole.

Insider Tip:Check out Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium for the worlds first shark tunnel
