Chicago Pocket Guide

Images Of Chicago

With its lake shore location, countless skyscrapers and bundance of iconic traits and characteristics, Chicago is one of the great American cities. Along with skyscrapers, the windy city (a nickname which has nothing to do with the weather incidentally) is famous for hot dogs, pizza, sports teams and more. It possesses a big city feel similar to that you'd find in New York, but boasts a landscape that's far more open than its east coast counterpart. One minute you're in the middle of a thriving city when walking down Michigan Avenue, while the next you're enjoying some peace and quiet overlooking Lake Michigan. Even though it's not as accessible as other North American cities, it's ultimately worth the effort to get to as Chicago is unlike any other city in the country.

    Beautiful and Vibrant City

Chicago is a big city and yet it is surprisingly very clean and beautifully built. It has waterfront area, a theme park at the Navy Pier, and so much to do for avid sports fans, foodies, art lovers, and theatre goers. There's even free parking in the suburban neighborhoods. Something is new around every corner and the prices are very reasonable. I also think that the transportation is more than accessible to all the major areas.

Insider Tip:Hottix.com is a great website to get discounted theatre tickets.

    Sport central!

Chicago definitely lives up to its title of 'Windy City'. It can be sunny and warm where you take your jumper off, but when that wind hits, it sure does get chilly. Beautiful city to walk around and take in the great architecture. Must see is the 360 Chicago, its signature lounge is stunning and you even get a view while in the bathroom! Chicagoans love their sport, about every 10th person you see is wearing some sporting item! Definitely check out some sport if you can!

Insider Tip:Buy a 3 daily pass for the trains, or a 5-day one depending on how long you are staying. The trains are a great way of getting around and run regularly.

Chicago is like a lot of big American cities, so don't expect it to be super clean or super friendly, but I enjoyed my visit. There are so many great things to check out, and the transit system can easily take you almost anywhere you want to go. The city is also big on Architecture, so check out all the buildings around you, or take an architecture tour on the river!

Insider Tip:Check out Second City Improv - a lot of big names go their start there, & the shows are funny.

    Chicago is wonderful!

Chicago is very tourist-friendly city with a lot of opportunities for fun. Enjoy nice architecture and water channels in downtown, lovely shore of Michigan Lake, and Millennium Park. Get to the top of John Hancock Observatory and Willis Tower (both are recommended). Do not forget to visit Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and The Art Institute. Have fun in Chicago pubs!
