Karneval - good experience, but overshadows Cologne's natural beauty

Like Munich during Oktoberfest, Cologne during Karneval doesn't let you appreciate the true beauty of the city. Cologne itself has some museums (like the chocolate museum!) we would have liked to visit, but as it was Karneval they were closed. Aside from parades and excessive drinking, there isn't a heck of a lot to keep you busy during this time when everything else is closed. However seeing everyone on the street in costume and going to the parades was really cool!

    Can't love it more

I went there because of the Dom and it was the carnival on the next day! I really enjoyed the Carnival with the music, beer, food and the passionate and friendly people there Would definitely return to Cologne again for the Carnival and the great architectures there!

Visit the cathedral. If your are not afraid of height you can climb the hundreds of stairs and see a panorama of the town. The bridge with the lockers is an attraction. You can go shopping on one specific street that has all the store you can imagine.

Insider Tip:Get lost in the city and eat a kebab.

    Nice small town

Cologne is a nice small town, with the train station right next to the main attraction: the Cologne Dom, a huge cathedral that is said to house the remains of the 3 Magi. There are a few Museums, and some remnants of the past castles. 1-2 days is good here, and you could do it in 1.
