Cologne City Reviews

I enjoyed visited Cologne, however I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it as much if I hadn't had a local guide to show me around. I usually like walking around cities on my own but when I tried this in Cologne I couldn't find any of the cool bars or attractions. Maybe it was just bad luck on my part! However, once I made a local friend via Couchsurfing, he kindly showed me lots of very cool bars, cafes, parks and other hidden treasures. Definitely a nice place to visit for a couple of days.

Insider Tip:If you are looking for a cool bar, try opening doors covered in graffiti in the street that look like they belong to abandoned buildings. We found several unofficial bars this way! Also, 'Arty Farty' is a great bar/gallery to have a drink and a dance in.

    worth a trip

I found cologne quite walkable. Head across the bridge to see the love locks and check out the views from the top of the tower.

Insider Tip:There are free lunchtime concerts in the very nice concert hall on Thursdays at 1pm! Pay a few euros to see the cathedral treasury - it is definitely worth it!

    No party on tuesday

After we came back after the Leverkusen match we went into the city center but not one bar was open or if it was open there was no one in. Maybe it was because we were on a tuesday, but we could not found any life, yes we have searched for it. we have had a nice 2 hour walk. The day after we went shopping for a hour and it was very nice. The city is in opposite of the night very crowded and has diverse shops. The Dom is very beautiful, rest of the city also!

    Cologne Cathedral

Visiting Cologne Cathedral is my ultimate mission of my trip this time. Museums combo in Cologne would be a exciting experience though I only went two museums this time.

Insider Tip:If you like museums too, get a Koln card is a must! Buy it in tourist center at the opposite of Cologne Cathedral and enjoy the discounts.
