Quick stop in Cologne - well worth a visit!

Only had a one night stop off in Cologne, not knowing much about the city, and was pleasantly surprised. Definitely recommend climbing the cathedral tower, great shopping although we didn't visit for that reason, clean and safe city.

Insider Tip:Frueh an Dom for authentic dinner in a beerhall and good Kolsch!

boring city but definitely worth a day or two

Great to relax on a summer day or to see friends who live here, but there isn't a lot else going on here.

    Insider Tip:One day is enough.

Would Love to Return... Industrialized yet historically interesting city

I was only in Cologne for a night, but I'd definitely return. Though industrialized and cluttered, the city maintains a lot of its historical and architectural charm. Can't say anything about the entertainment options, as I was only there for an afternoon and one early evening.

Insider Tip:The Cathedral of Cologne is the biggest and most impressive church I've seen (including what I saw at Rome and anywhere else in Germany or CZ).

    Cologne, Germany

I spent a week in Cologne and it was a great time. But on my recommendation unless you have a vehicle a week is too long for the city as a tourist. 3-4 days would be best and you get to see the whole city and then move on.

    Cologne was a decent time

I spent three days in Cologne. The first night I spent it on a strip of bars and restaurants that was filled with "college" kids. It reminded me of my college years for sure lol. On two separate days I walked to the cathedral and it truly is breathtaking. I actually attended a church service on the Sunday that I was there. Im not religious but it gave me goosebumps (the good kind). Kolsch beer is very interesting and you will find no shortage of it around the city.

Insider Tip:I took a "cologne free walk" and discovered hidden gems all around the city. This is a must. If I ever go back to Cologne it will be during "Carnival" because with three days I feel that I pretty much saw everything there is to see.
