A top city to visit in Germany

The Cathedral itself is enough reason to make a stop in the city. I walked around and looked at the other stuff and it was alright. As a traveler nothing is outstandingly spectacular, but if you don't get to travel then the sites should all be pretty cool. Have a few glasses of the local Kolsch bier. If you are a traveler this city looks like it has a pretty good nightlife, I didn't get to go out in it, but I'm positive it does. There's a lot of diversity and it's pretty busy. 2 days is fine.

Can't wait to comeback to Cologne!

Wow, what a place! Awesome rooms, friendly staff, huge kitchen, and a big patio space to hang out at. Only 2-3 blocks from Cologne HBF and the Cologne Cathedral. Excellent place to meet new people, chill, and rent bicycles to cruise around town. Highly recommend for the traveler on a budget. Cheers!

Insider Tip:Rent a bicycle for 2-3 days, grab some beers, and go for a cruise down the Rhine River pathways. Plenty of park space to relax, and cool vendors to pick up snacks/drinks.

    Cologne, Germany

As far as cities go, Cologne is a pretty good one. There's a lot of atmosphere down by the water with nice restaurants and a couple of museums. It was busy without being over crowded, even around the major attractions. I visited the Nazi museum housed in the old Gestapo headquarters and I could not recommend it enough for anyone with an interest in the period of history. I suggest definitely taking a walk over the bridge that leads to/from the main train station to see the thousands of locks.

Insider Tip:Take an approx. 2 hour train to Cochem and hire a bike to ride to Eltz Castle. A beautiful ride along a river and hills covered in vines, it is about 20km each way but completely flat and relaxing. It is then a 2.5km walk through lovely forest to reach the amazing castle. Cochem also had a lovely castle, Reichsburg Castle. It was a fantastic day, and I cannot recommend it enough for anyone with an interest in the outdoors and castles.

Very fun. Beautiful Kolner Dom, extremely worthwhile to walk around it and inside it. Beautiful port area along Rhine that is alive at night. Good bars and restaurants. Known for art and architecture museums.
