Los Angeles Pocket Guide

Images Of Los Angeles

Loved and loathed in equal measures, Los Angeles is a sprawling metropolis and one of the most diverse cities in the world. Over a few days one can experience the tackiness of Hollywood, meet the eclectic characters of Venice Beach and marvel at the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Life in this West Coast city is slightly more relaxed than that on the East, and the neighbourhoods are the attractions. Theme parks abound and the LA nightlife is legendary. So whether you end up loving it or loathing it after your visit, you certainly won't be forgetting it in a hurry.

    Power outlet inside the locker!

Walking distance to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Mann's Chinese Theatre, In-Out Burger and tons of shops like and a department store. Overall a nice, clean place for a short stay.

Insider Tip:I stayed 8-bed female dorm. It had one toilet and shower room which was weird since everyone will know when you are pooping/taking a shower. I did love the fact that there's a charger in your bed, with a night light. And you're not disturbing anyone because it's behind this wall near your bed. The selling point is really the charger inside the locker. You can go eat somewhere and have your phone/iPad charged when you get back without worrying someone's going to steal it.

I was in the Hollywood end of LA during this stay and was disappointed overall but runyan canyon made up for this as it was such an amazing place to hike each morning!

Los Angeles - A dying city

Los Angeles felt like it was dying. Hollywood was less impressive than expected (I wasn't expecting much to begin with), it was tacky, touristy (which you can sort of expect) but just lacks any charm or personality. It felt like the worse that America had to offer, seen as such a cash cow - not a point of pride. The nicest area of LA to stay in would be Santa Monica. It is cleaner and has a better atmosphere. Still, I'd advice heading to San Diego and San Francisco if you have the time.

Insider Tip:Minimize your time here, do what you have planned but don't lull around.
