Los Angeles Pocket Guide

Images Of Los Angeles

Loved and loathed in equal measures, Los Angeles is a sprawling metropolis and one of the most diverse cities in the world. Over a few days one can experience the tackiness of Hollywood, meet the eclectic characters of Venice Beach and marvel at the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Life in this West Coast city is slightly more relaxed than that on the East, and the neighbourhoods are the attractions. Theme parks abound and the LA nightlife is legendary. So whether you end up loving it or loathing it after your visit, you certainly won't be forgetting it in a hurry.

    I love LA!

There is always plenty to do in LA as well as trips out of LA to parks etc. The weather is always lovely and the people are too. There is no possible way to be bored here! Whether you're looking for shopping, beaches, sightseeing, celebrities, national parks, theme parks, you name it and LA has it!

    Hollywood baby!

I enjoyed LA a lot more than I thought I would. Not enough time, but I saw the main tourist attractions. Universal studios is amazing. The people on the city are funny, and entertaining.

Insider Tip:People who dress up as characters and want a photo with you expect money, same goes with people handing out there CDs, they all want money. So if you aren't interested just say not thank you and keep walking

    Fleeting visit, must go back

This was the end of our trip and we really only had 48 hours in LA, much of which was spent in the Santa Monica area, which we found excellent - the pier and the Third street precinct. A tour to Universal Studios and an afternoon tour of Hollywood was merely an appetizer for the rest of the city, and that's all I can really comment on. At some point I need to go back and do more!

Insider Tip:Either have friends who can ferry you about, or have access to a car.

The city where you need a car

My biggest regret in LA was not being able to drive the public transport takes way too long. However, the city has great weather and people are friendly!
