Los Angeles Pocket Guide

Images Of Los Angeles

Loved and loathed in equal measures, Los Angeles is a sprawling metropolis and one of the most diverse cities in the world. Over a few days one can experience the tackiness of Hollywood, meet the eclectic characters of Venice Beach and marvel at the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Life in this West Coast city is slightly more relaxed than that on the East, and the neighbourhoods are the attractions. Theme parks abound and the LA nightlife is legendary. So whether you end up loving it or loathing it after your visit, you certainly won't be forgetting it in a hurry.

If you're an entertainment seeker the first place you should go to in LA is Universal Studios. It's amazing and definitely worth the money. If you have time to plan your vacation and are a Harry Potter fan wait until September 2016 which is when they'll open a *huge* Harry Potter section in the park. They're just starting to build it & it looked like the set of Hogsmeade. Back to LA, you see as much glam as you see filth and homeless people. If you come from a big city you won't be shocked....

Insider Tip:If your skin is rather fair sunblock, sunglasses and a hat are a must. The hop-on-hop-off bus is worth it, especially the one for 48hs (lookout for special discounts when buying this ticket--on site, not online--you can get free entrance to madame tussauds or discounts for other attractions). If you're a fan of movie premieres and celebrities look online if there's going to be a movie premiere while you're there. You get to experience the thrill of the red carpet and standing mere feet away from celebs.

    Cool place worth visiting

Los Angeles is a must visit place for anyone visiting the U.S. Some of the sight seeing is a little lame (the Hollywood sign is difficult to get close to for eg) and it is definitely more difficult without a car. However, the city is filled with extremely friendly people and is a great place to go out and have fun. It goes without saying the weather is amazing and overall I thoroughly enjoyed visiting.

Insider Tip:Stay at Banana Bungalow in West Hollywood!

    Power outlet inside the locker!

Walking distance to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Mann's Chinese Theatre, In-Out Burger and tons of shops like and a department store. Overall a nice, clean place for a short stay.

Insider Tip:I stayed 8-bed female dorm. It had one toilet and shower room which was weird since everyone will know when you are pooping/taking a shower. I did love the fact that there's a charger in your bed, with a night light. And you're not disturbing anyone because it's behind this wall near your bed. The selling point is really the charger inside the locker. You can go eat somewhere and have your phone/iPad charged when you get back without worrying someone's going to steal it.
