Los Angeles Pocket Guide

Images Of Los Angeles

Loved and loathed in equal measures, Los Angeles is a sprawling metropolis and one of the most diverse cities in the world. Over a few days one can experience the tackiness of Hollywood, meet the eclectic characters of Venice Beach and marvel at the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Life in this West Coast city is slightly more relaxed than that on the East, and the neighbourhoods are the attractions. Theme parks abound and the LA nightlife is legendary. So whether you end up loving it or loathing it after your visit, you certainly won't be forgetting it in a hurry.

    LA IS OVER HYPED!

LA isnt the safest place to be, seems like every street corner has a gang member on it, you would think that hollywood is a nice place, but no your wrong, would never go back to LA, the only nice place to go is universal and city walk, recommend renting a car to get arround to avoid all the local nutcases on the public transport systems and streets.

    Insider Tip:Get a car

    I love LA!!

Los Angeles will soon be my new home. It is such an amazing city with great character. It is best to know someone who lives here or knows the city who can drive you around because the place is SO spread out. I will be on couchsurfing.com as soon as I get a place out there so look me up. Overall, there is so much to see and do. Staying west of downtown (santa monica, hollywood, etc) is pretty essential as this is where most of the sites and nightlife is.

Insider Tip:If you're going to go it alone... Rent a car. They're cheap (as little as $19 a day) and will save you a BUNCH of hassle. The US is known for their bad public transport and LA is no exception.

LA is really big, having a car definitely helps. Hollywood is flashy and cheap-thrillish, I thought, but that's just me. Downtown LA is not among my favorite US city centers.

    hollywood baby!!!

los angeles was great for three days but i was ready to leave after that time. it really is badly polluted with smog so you can't even see the hollywood sign. but i love movies and stars so i loved it heaps!!!

Insider Tip:the buses and underground are great and the american people are so friendly and helpful. i had to keep looking back when people smiled at me. (too long in london i feel). walk along sunset blvd to rodeo drive and check out all the celebrities. i did a bus tour of the stars homes but walked it the next day and walking was better...
