Milan Pocket Guide

Images Of Milan

Slick, sleek and uber-cool, Milan is one of the most stylish cities in the world. Lavish designer stores abound endless streets while just as lavish bags loaded with the latest 'must-have' items hang from endless shoppers' arms. Milan also has some of Italy's most breathtaking cathedrals, making it a perfect destination for sightseeing as well as shopping. Once all shopping and sightseeing is done, visitors can enjoy free snacks during 'aperitivo time' before ending the day in Navigli, Milan's coolest quarter.

Had a great day doing a tour of milan and the last supper, and a night of wandering round the beautiful city.

Insider Tip:The duomo at night is gorgeous. Book last supper tickets in advance.

    Not nice.

There is very little to do at Milan besides eating. There are just a few touristic attractions, such as the duomo, and as so they are usually over crowded in a way that's not pleasant. The metro system and buses are confusing and it's hard to get information. Streets are not clean at all and all the time I felt like I was walking in a bad neighbourhood, despite staying in the city center. Markets and stores also operate on weird hours - couldn't find places open neither at 11 AM nor at 5 PM.

Milan - Good for a couple of days

Not a bad city but we had exhausted it after 2 days. It's suited more for people who like to shop. A few decent sites to visit (the Duomo being the best). We travelled around Italy and there are much much better cities/places to visit so unless you like shopping at the v.expensive stores go somewhere else.

    The NY of Europe

In my opinion this city is amazing lot of history mixed with a cosmopolitan city. 2015 expo milan will give visitors a great view of the city. Food is amazing can find every kind of restaurants with variety of prices.

Insider Tip:Be careful of guy that offer "gifts", juust learn to say No in a strong tone of voice and will no bother to much.

    Not much to see

Milan, other than the cathedral and high-end shopping (if you are interested), doesn't have much to offer. You can add the San Siro football stadium but I went in the off-season. A day trip to Lake Como is worthwhile though (I was a little unlucky that the funicular in Como town was closed for maintenance and I missed the fast ferry).

Insider Tip:1. Steps leading to top of Milan Cathedral open at about 9 am - definitely worth a visit 2. If you are planning a day trip to lake Como, take the morning train to Varenna (one of many towns on the lake), short ferry to Bellagio and the longer ferry to Como town from where there are hourly trains back to Milan. Trains to Varenna from Milan are infrequent - check timings in advance
